    Merging of weaker clubs

People on this site love to bash the bigger stronger clubs....

which clubs appear to be weak and should look to combine with another club to strengthen themselves?

How about PCU / NEU for starters?

That would be a good move by both parties - then "out source" the competitive portion to FCP. Would be large and top teams would be pretty good. OSA would really struggle. Maybe include them?

BSC might look good with these two, also. Sounds like BSC has a descent coaching staff. Perhaps they could take on the management lead on this hypothetical merge.

          FCSC consumed by ***C

being that FCSC has only one team might be a good move for them. Not sure how many rec players they have but that would benefit all members also.....it would just make it that much harder for us to compete with the Couv'

Wish fcsc would combine with pacific and start a premier side. Younger players would have an option other then the monopoly that ***c has. The club cost a lot which is ok if you can get good coach but not to many. Be nice not to have to go over bridge. Know pacific was formed to be for select players but the soccer community is changing and be nice to have a option for kids to play premier level but not have to pay thousands to do it. Perhaps they could come up with coaches get paid like high school. It might be a little more but I am sure it be less timbers after fees uniform club fees paying the coaches expenses etc. seems soccer at premier level only for rich kids and not most talented. The scholarships for timbers only proverty levels. Still leaves a lot of middle class kids out. Any pacific board members hope you read and consider.

Are you suggesting the team pays the coach directly? Or are you saying that you want a coach for very little cost to the team?

                Huh?

Why would PCU/NEU do anything with FCP? PFC doesn't bring anything to the table other than debt and overpaid part-time coaches.

If team willing to pay a couple hundred extra it be about 3000 for coach a season to try to get more then parent coach. That still lot cheaper then timbers. Pacific does not allow this option. Problem is the kids who are good and can't afford the thousands to play ***c end up playing select. The mission of pacific was to alow kids play soccer without costing arm and leg but sad thing is those players who have talent to play premier won't because there no club offers this without costing arm and leg. It be expanding on their mission.

Of all of the big "monopoly" clubs ***C is the cheapest.
If you want better coaching plan on spending $2K just to be part of a club....
Best bang for your buck is the $1K you'd spend at ***C to play for the only registered Premier Club in Clark County.

FCSC's club fees are higher than ***C so why would you combine with them?

My DD paid $1,500 for everything at ***C including my DD's travel....being that FCSC has only one team to compare to at ***C I'm sure they paid close to the same.

Pacific is a great club...I'm not knocking your club....it's a great second and third tier option for players. For the more serious players it is obvious that for the price that ***C is the best option...if you want to spend more money and more drive time then across the river is the way to go

This would be a great move actually. Tina can take over the 00 with her daughter and focus on that age group, and if you combined those teams they would be extremely good. The 99's could come in and that age group has 2 of the better teams which would make an awesome group. The rest of the kids could then find homes.

Overall it would be a good move.

                        ?

Also that would mostly cover central/downtown PDX. If only Foothills and Hillside and SESC would give up their quest to dilute the talent even more.

I guess there would be overlap with Westside, though.

Do the Timbers pay their coaches 5,000-6,000 per year?? Not sure FCSC coaches would want to take the pay cut to be at Timbers.

                            hurt egos

One of the things about a merger of this type though, is that there can only be so many directors and head coaches. Someone who is making money as a DOC now would have to take a paycut, and that's not likely. Also, the point of merging to create a strong team would have to involve players getting cut from their current A Teams, to form a real competitive squad. That would involve practice venue changes as well.

How do you figure that FCSC only has one team?
