My daughter was selected to metro league first team. What does this mean and what's the selection criteria? Thanks

It means the coaches from that league got together and voted.
Typically you vote a player of the year for the league
11 first team players
11 second team players
11 honorable mention
so it is who the coaches in the league thought were the best players, there is some weight to it though, the first place team gets more "first team" selections generally
they also vote on coach of the year, which almost always by default goes to the coach of the first place team. Not necessarily the coach who actually coached the best. Like in the league we are in, the COY, is new this year, has the first place team but also has a worse record than last year, when the same team (that only graduated 1) had a better record, and they also have the player of the year and something like 6 of the 11 spots on first team. not super difficult to coach that team.Comment

My daughter who plays on Onyx or would if I was a parent from Onyx was asked to play for the Thorns next year or to play for Stanford. Since I am a humble person and do not go around blowing my horn, does this mean anything? With a lobotomy, it is difficult to form any opinions. I thought so. Both my kids played for THUSC and knowing the number of teams the club has, it didn't seem like he would have the time to coach outside of club. Still curious about the original post. I know that they posted the all academic metro players. Don't see the all league players posted yetComment
