Look at the older ages, these TA clubs don't even compete in the premier league. It's no loss.

I would rather my DD play the same 5 quality teams over and over again than travel all over the state playing mediocre teams at best.

Yeah well at my daughters age group(U16 girls) there are only three quality teams left. That means they play the same two teams over and over? If you look at Division 1 the top two teams were PCU and Medford. No help there either.

I just glanced at the boys side and it's much worse. At U14 boys 10 of the top 12 teams are going OYSA. Hopefully the remaining OPL clubs will be allowing their teams the option to play OYSA.

Everyone keeps assuming that this OYSA league will really happen. Just like turf fields at Harmony, I'll believe it when I see it...

Sad thing is that there aren't 5 quality teams at each age group. There are 5 teams, and maybe 2 quality teams. OPL is imploding, as predicted, and it's just a matter of time until that ship sails. But good luck with that.

The move was the best thing we could have done, went to summer surf, now headed back at Thanksgiving with her new U17 team.
Empty promises year after year? Really? Since your DD plays for Crossfire OR, that means she couldn't have been with a TA Alliance team until this year.
There is a total of one Oregon team playing at College Surf this year at U17 (in Gold, not Super). There also is a total of one OR team at U16 - a TA team playing in the Super Group. So, I'm assuming every other OPL team out there threw out empty promises as well?

No empty promises at all from our OPL club. We, as a team, voted on whether to participate in Surf or Final Four or several others over the season. We opted out of Surf.

No empty promises from TA either. We were told the TA would hold tryouts for upcoming showcase tournaments (tryouts were held in Eugene this fall). We were told TA would apply to enter teams (TA applied and one team was accepted). TA has done everything it said it would do. This is a developing program. So far, very professional, fair, and competitive, which is what we TA clubs are signing up for. Looking forward to future TA programs for our clubs players.

Promises of the other OPL teams are of no concern to us, why would they be? We were told, stay with our club, play with the alliance team because we WILL be sending them to Surf, didn't happen, big shocker...

Opted out of surf? More likely either you didn't get accepted or knew you wouldn't be accepted so didn't try. 24 slots, around 100 teams applying = you must be pretty good to get accepted, much less to get into Super group.

Didn't the OPL state champs get the automatic bid to Surf Cup? Is this why they are playing and others are not?

Our team opted out if thanksgiving surf cup to do the final four showcase instead. Team decided summer surf was better so the team will just do that again instead.

                            That's what I was thinking.

                            Surf Cup choses you.

OPL State Champs do not get an automatic bid to Surf Cup, but NWCL Champions do. BTW those playing TA aren't being asked to play NWCL anymore -- just go and look at which teams will playing this Winter NWCL. I believe the winner of the Timber Alliance Cup will get an automatic bid to the Mt Hood Challenge
