    OPL Fall BU14. Crossfire, seriously?

    http://www.oregonpremierleague.com/s.../61381610.html

What is Crossfire doing in this division? They are a new club so why aren't they in second division, like RVT?

Looks to me like once again it is who you know that matters in Oregon soccer.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but don't you want the top 8 teams? Also, why do you care, I thought moving forward that all TA clubs will have their own rec league

If you wanted the top 8 then CFC would be in there.

Right all Oregon teams will be in a rec league. The TA rec league is better than the OPL and the OPL is better than parks and rec... But only by a little.

Ok..... I'll bite, so then why does WST get to include their A and B team in Premier?

Their B team won D1 last year. Promoted. Just my thought.

Because they basically double rostered their A team and called it the B team in all the tough B team games. CFC could have done the same thing for their last game and prevented Samba from bumping up but they decided not to cheat. I'm sorry but adding 4-5 A team players when you already have a full bench is just immoral.

That's hard to prove so give up on it already. CFC just barely did not get promoted. OTOH, the Crossfire team wasn't even in D1 last year so how did they make it? Have they done anything this summer?

It's doesn't need to be proved. We played them last season and they had 5 A team players all who started. It's the WST way. JB did eventually send out an email regarding it but it came after the last Samba game. I guess you do what you gotta do to get the wins.

being someone who until this year was with a smaller club (only one team per age) i used to really hate it when we played teams that did swing players. Now that i get to see the extra playing time, new players, different coaches it's a great experience for my player. And don't think for a second that WST are the only ones that do this. This is a practice that is done by all the bigger clubs. If you call out one club you should be calling out ALL the bigger clubs.

and CFC didn't get promoted simply because they got 3rd place.... it is that simple.... or do you want me to spell it out for you.....

That crossfire was Southside last year, wasn't it? Since Pacific FC doesn't have their 99 boys team any longer that meant one more spot was open in NPL and they didn't have to get relegated.

I do think CFC is the better team and should be playing in NPL so we can have the best competition available in that league.

As others have suggested, I also am not a fan of the guest players. Play with the team that got you there and win on your own merits or recruit them for the full season.
FC Portland, Westside, Cfc, and others all do the guest player game.

That Pacific team went to Wa Timbers. That team should be better than last years Pacific team as they picked up a few players from last year VT and probably plugged some holes. But they are not doing OPL I dont think, RCL?. Would have been interesting to see them in OPL...

As for guest players, I am a fan of it when B players are called up to play A. I am also ok with it when a player playing up a year comes down sometimes to play on age on A. Seems hokey to have A players play down on the B team, just for wins and earning promotion.

CFC should DEFINITELY be in NPL, at least for talent and ability. They would be top half NPL IMHO.

If CFC had pulled the same crap as WST then Samba would not be in the NPL and CFC would. When Samba played the CFC B team CFC could have stacked the roster but chose to do the ethical thing. They've already proven that not only can they compete with WST and FC but they can beat them. Samba gets destroyed every time.
