Yep. That guy has nothing else to do with his life but post whah whah complaints about Mike.

If you are so worked up about how terribly Mt Hood challenge is run, do you think posting here is going to work out for you? You think we are all going to agree with you and get our pitchforks out, loser?

News for you: most of like Mt Hood challenge and dont give a crap that Mike makes money or not. We pay our fee, our kids have a good time, and we parents enjoy a weekend of soccer with our kids. Maybe you forgot about that being the reason we are here......

I do give a crap if a third party is getting the lion share of the net for my daughter's club annual fundraising tournament. As a local Resident I want my local youth clubs to get funded. Not taken to the cleaners by a 'professional scheduling' 3rd party that is making money off them and their unique ability to host a tournament. It's been said on this string before--if this third party could actual host a tournament, they would. They don't.

I don't care if people like or dislike the event, hopefully they do. Whatever the case may be it's about giving back to the club. Not giving an annual wage to tournament helper.

If that's not the mission of WUSC they need to go into private business.

Why is this such a touchy subject?

Every post I read is blasting anyone who raises an eyebrow about the ethics and going on's with this event. Is there something to hide?

Maybe people are tired of your vendetta against this tournament and the organizer. If you don't like the tournament, don't have your kid play in it. If you have an issue with the club, take it up with the club. If you think something illegal is going on, file a complaint.

Posting on an anonymous blog is stupid and unproductive and just goes to prove you have nothing but complaints and an ax to grind.

Not a touchy subject. People are obviously happy with this tournament or else they would not attend. There are one or two grouches out there that are whining about Mike and how he makes money and blah blah blah blah blah.

For Mr. I-want-my-local-soccer-club-to-get-funded, do you really think this is the place to raise your concerns? Why the hell are you not bringing it up with your club? You are truly stupid if you think this is the right venue.

In any case, I think you are lying. You have some other motivation to complain--like you are upset that Mike left Chinook Cup and now that tournament is a big Fail--that you are not sharing.

Same for Mr "ethics", who is probably the same person as the other.

              Just go away already.

Moreover - he's one of those that's "to busy" (lazy) to really do anything but complain.

(more importantly - does "moreover" work there? been trying to work it into a conversation all day.)

One thing you cannot hide is how stupid you are.

It would be taking a lion's share of the gross not the net. The fee or commission paid to a vendor is an expense item. The net is what the club takes after all those expenses are paid. Of course, if they skimped on organization and had a really lousy tournament maybe they could drive the net to a red number. Would that make you happier?

If it is your local club then you should bring it up at the board meeting and then volunteer to be the scheduler and try to get 600 teams to particiapate. Go for it and let us all know how you did.

To The Dude w/ a Boner for Mike:

Rather than trying to raise an eyebrow about ethics by starting your own rumors, why don't you go to one of their board meetings and bring up the question? They are a non profit so you should be able to attend a meeting.

What is there to hide? You can get into WUSC's financial if you want to dig into this further.

Please don't shoot this messenger :)

All 501c.3 books or tax returns are available for everyone to view at GuideStar

WUSC 2011 Tax return shows Mt.Hood Challenge revenue from just team registrations at $335,000 and they finished in the black for the entire club at +17K for the year.

                            2011 http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocument...08c8abde-9.pdf

WUSC 2010 tax returns shows Mt.Hood Challenge revenue from just team registrations at nearly $290,000 and they finished in the black for the entire club at +10K for the year.

                            2010 http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocument...0752ca6b-9.pdf

The only thing odd is they report a gain of $45,000 between 2010 and 2011 in team registration revenue but only show a $7000 bump in the overall club bottom line between 2010 and 2011.

As you can see in the reports there is no real accounting for this tourney other than the gross of team registration category for tourney.

It just means they spent more money in 2011 then in 2010 for the overall club

I find it odd that a non-profit would gain 45K in revenue over one year and only show a gain of 7K on bottom line. These type of groups are so cash poor and tight on expenditures that this kind of a windfall of revenue would be difficult to digest as quip they spent it, of course they did (spend it) on what? Why would expenses increase 40K + in one year when these groups hold pretty flat in expenses from year to year.

Having a look at 2011 to 2012 changes. Will report back.
