    I love this tournament

    1st- it's hosted by an irrelevant club--WUSC.

2nd-it has no Prestige or relevance in the competitive Soccer Tournament world in the united states..

3rd it allows teams from remote areas of Washington to bring the R.V. and the fam and get 4 games and sleep in the parking lot.

4th-while none of the teams are actually any good at regional level and rarely state level-THEY ARE ALL WINNERS!! by bracket design and internet marketing

5th-Its run by a guy who couldn't kick, control, pass, shoot or even head a soccer ball.

Finally Thousands of people come and play...this thing reminds me of Woodstock, minus the bands.

P.T. Barnum has nothing on this guy running this charade.

    I LOVE THAT FACT!

On behalf of all working parents that put up with flighty soccer guy B.S. I have to argue #5 on your list. It is probably precisely the reason he is successful with this tourney.

        You missed it

#5 is the reason it works.

The tournament has nothing to do with soccer.

It's a brilliant business, marketing internet phenom.

IT CATERS TO THE MASSES OF RECREATIONAL/CLASSIC FAMILIES WHO ARE MORE INTERESTED IN GETTING 4 GAMES AND A MEDAL THAN IMPROVING AT SOCCER.

        I LOVE IT!

It doesn't cater to the elite players or families who live and breathe the game.

It caters to teams from Washington that want to take a camping r.v park trip to ORYGONE.

For a visual head over to Oaks Amusement Park by the Sellwood bridge on Saturday around 3pm, walk through the midway and look at the kids and families.

then head over to Mary. S. Young park and look at the sidelines .

        Deja Vu.

        The Business of Selling Fun!!

        Once again I love it!

You people are so arrogant. My kid is no different than your kid. She is 11 years old and she loves soccer. Her dreams are no different than your kids. She's playing Gold this weekend and she's excited. As are her teammates. She knows if she loses her first 2 games they're out of it. Even if she gets a medal. She knows.

We're coming from out of town. We're not staying in an RV park. We're spending our money in your worthless, arrogant, traffic hell hole city.

Be glad for the cash for your city and shut the hell up. Travel to your elite tournaments and leave the rest of us alone.

            awesome!!

What's most pleasing is it only takes 4 games and the guarantee of a medal--to have you come to this hell hole.

My question what's the name of the trailer park you are uprooting and following the yellow brick road and marching towards this grand prize? Emerald Park City?

I prefer staying put here in King City :)

Luckily you will not have to pay any sales tax to visit the state. Because they are not smart enough to tax people who visit and use their infrastructure. Instead they let the people who have jobs pay for all that. It's a very smart bunch.

I live here and this is still the post of the night. The arrogance is comical. Hope your daughter has a great weekend.

We're not from out of state. Very familiar with the tax structure. And we wonder...

What I love the most about this tournament

is the simplicity of my property taxes and state income taxes for over 35 years contributing to help pay and subsidize many of the artificial and grass soccer fields in Tualatin, Beaverton, Hillsboro and West Linn so this P.T. Barnum fellow can rent them at the non-profit discount rate for aligning with WUSC and then he cashes out with team registration fees for PUBLIC F_CKING fields for his matches.

I've got an idea...Maybe chinook winds casino would be so kind to let me rent their place at a rate of $40 an hour--per 1 million dollars of land value. Which is about the rate being payed to use an outdoor field for this tourney...If so I too could make revenue for doing nothing more than inviting people to come play and spend money at the property(s) cash-out with the net from Chinook winds casino floor games and slots. I LOVE THIS BUSINESS MODEL. Risk next to nothing invest next to nothing and get all the reward.

The sweat and labor of hundreds of thousands of Oregonians taxes going towards this brilliant tournament swindler mind...all he did was guarantee 4 games and medal. As mentioned before he is not a soccer guy, of course not soccer guys appreciate soccer fields and how valuable they are for training and playing, they would never try and make significant bucks off the local tax payers investment into a community. Sorry GW :)

When our the city councils and honest taxpayers going to ask for an accounting of these activities. Take a 50% to 75% share of the gross for PROVIDING THE ONLY THING NEEDED TO PLAY--A FIELD.

                      IT"S A RACKET.

You are correct. Your piece of **** grass fields are not worth it. Nor is your arrogant city with a strip mall with Applebee's and Claim Jumpers on every corner. We will no longer pay your ridiculous fees to rent a park for an hour or two. We will spend our dimes in cities where people are welcome.

Before anyone defends this tournament, you should really ask yourself how much Mike is getting for "organizing" this tournament. You would be SHOCKED at how much he makes off this 1 tournament. Lets just put it this way, take whatever number you think it is and at minimum double it. He will make as much as some full time workers make for the entire year on this one weekend.... its sad that the most "popular" tournament in Oregon is really a fundraiser for one individual

Good for him. That is business. Why don't you organize a tournament and see how much work is involved.

                              Dumbass...

                                Help people out here

This tourney is a great business model.

Rent well, well, well below wholesale prices for million dollar government owned and managed synthetic sports fields across the metro area--actually get them at a priced designed for non profit users.

Then charge an inflated retail price since it's a youth tournament that supplies medals and a guarantee of four game to all teams playing.

Roughly a retail rental rate of $225 to $275 per hour the field...each team has matches close to 1 hour+ long , the entry fees for two teams adds up to around $1100 to $1200-only two teams occupy the field at a time, divide that figure $1100 to $1200 by 4 games.
Guess what each match generates over/under $500 cash back return per hour.
I paid nearly 10x and is some cases nearly 20x less than the generated $500 per hour.

So if you can guarantee me that I can rent fields at the non-profit rate of around $25 to $50 an hour and not raise any eyebrows with the park districts or local taxpayers and charge my users roughly $250 an hour--this is a great deal for all of us.
