Mount Hood Challenge - Bait and Switch?

Mt Hood Challenge - if you're 'fortunate' enough to be on the mailing list, in any one of the 3-4 daily emails you receive you'll find the organizers touting all the perks of playing in the tournament. On of which being a 4 game guarantee. This guarantee does not exist. There are TWO games posted with a third 'playoff' game. If you win the third game, THEN you get to have a 4th. What kind of guarantee is that.

Considering this is an expensive tournament by regional standards, I find it pretty outrageous they're so willing to ignore their sales pitch. If a team does not make finals, they're paying $233 a game. Ouch.

Has anyone else noticed this? It may be different in some age groups. I've only looked at 2.

Yep Morris is a Master at scheduling you will get all your games. And after the first two there is usually still an opportunity to win your division as he usually divides them again.. Try to have a good time

It is 4 games. Two for bracketing then placed in semi-finals. Win you play for finals.

If you lose in semi--then you get to play the other loser from the semis to determine a true 3rd place team.

4 games no matter what. Mike does a decent job at bracketing and games. There is a reason why he has over 600 teams in what (4 short years of running this).

Ignore this guy. He trolls all the threads and says stuff like that to everyone at every age level boys and girls thread. No idea why, but clearly something wrong with him.

I hate the way this tournament is set up. Everyone in the bracket should play the same teams but since "everyone goes to the play offs" you get two games.

On a different topic, What I hate is the fact in some age groups he put 5-6 teams in Bracket A and Bracket B, and you play 2 games and get divided into the separate areas. That seems so freaking stupid. if you have 12 teams why not do groups of 3 and first place goes to top bracket 2nd to the next and 3rd is last. Seems just as simple but atleast you earn your spot in your bracket.

Then don't participate. It's just that simple.

Well unfortunately we were already signed up and the deadline to get a refund had already passed when they came out with the brackets and schedules and how it was going to work. In the past he would do groups of 3-4 with 2 games before going into brackets, so it surprised me that he went away from that this time.

Too many teams, then you would play three bracket games and semi and then a final. Has to try to keep it to 4 games. Just out of number of teams in the tournament.

Yes, the bracket set up will prevent anyone from having any fun and developing any soccer capabilities. It appears that it has ruined the entire reason anyone signs up for a tournament.

4 groups of 3.... you play everyone in your bracket with only 2 games. First place team in all 4 brackets goes into the gold, 2nd place teams all go into silver 3rd place goes into bronze. Mike used to do this when he ran the Chinook cup before. It works just fine, but in the current set up lets say you have 6 teams in your bracket, if the true 2 best teams play each other and lets say tie, then its possible both of them end up in the silver bracket instead of the gold.

Plus on another side note seriously all these different brackets and trophies really takes away the pride that comes with actually winning the tournament, but that's just my opinion.
