    Girls ODP New Structure

Girls ODP is getting revamped and from the looks of it on paper, it definitely addresses previous issues and structures purposely to benefit the player.

    Change is good.

Do us all a favor and just cancel girls ODP entirely. It's about the timbers, the academy, and growth for the boys. Then we also could get rid of this guy ^^^^ posting on this site with his trash.

You know that this will put that post-it, post-it, post-it guy right over the edge. You can see him thinking right now, "What, there are changes? When are they going to post the changes?" Good heavens he is a piece of work.

              Joke

It's a big waste of time and money in the current state. The first thing they need to do is get rid of the club coach involvement and use college coaches with no club affiliation. Second get it out of the timbers alliance control. Third get someone that can facilitate it properly instead of EL who as clearly demonstrated he has no clue how to handle it. But if you feel the urge to donate your roughly 2100 plus dollars to make it to regional camp which is really easy to make if you are a quality player by all means have at it. To each there own. You can get so much more exposure getting with a high quality team or ecnl team and doing the showcases at the highest level. Not sandbagging back in the silver or bronze or division 2 or 3. The coaches recruiters are watching gold and division 1. The players that are on these teams really have no need for ODP. Talk to any college coach they will tell you. The talent pool in ODP as a whole not refering to just oregon really has been diluted with poor players to fill with ECNL as popular as its gotten as the major majority of those players do not do ODP and are told not to. Have fun I know e timbers will appreciate your funds and they will let you live the dream for a year.

First off, each RTC region had 25ish kids. Last year in my daughters age group of 2000 we had 5 regions. I don't know about other regions but in PDX east they had well over 100 kids try out for those 25 spots. All of the good 2000's in PDX metro turned out. From this total group representing our State 11 went on to regional camp. A large amount of quality players was left behind. I can only speak for 2000's but in this age bracket quality players are doing ODP.

As for your second point about the great ECNL. I am fairly well to do financially and completely unwilling to go $8,000 deep into an ECNL team of which we don't even have in our area, So the debait and discussion are pointless. PDX Timbers ODP group is a class act. I had the opportunity to witness the other states ODP groups and our kids stand out from a quality on and off the field standpoint.

The Timbers are doing this thing correctly. They are listening and making positive changes to an already well run product. Great job Timbers, keep it up.

Girls is diluted because some do ECNL and some do ODP... So neither group is competing against all the best players. For boys, all the best participate because ODP, academy are all under same roof. There's really no other game in town. But yes, all top boys and girls should participate on a top club team for additional exposure.

Not a large number of PDX kids do ECNL. Majority due ODP.

Let the 5 kids who are doing ecnl in some form or another continue to I that route. The idea that dillution is an issue is dillusional as the parents who trek their kid up there multiple times a week.

The restruture is a great move in the right direction in refocusig the overall goal of odp which is no longer advancement into national ranks but competing with other entities in providing larger numbers of players to find avenues into college.

It's unfortunate that programs such as ecnl had to bring about the change in the overall state program but this recent change will effect more players on a large and positive scale.

There will always be people who will grind an axe or would like to see it fail. But in time those people will be easy to notice.

Just a few things, spelling errors take away credibility especially when you tell us you are "well to do. " (deabait ? ) You must be fairly new to this otherwise you would know that our kids stand out because other states best kids are not doing ODP anymore. Washington kids on ECNL teams have " almost" all left ODP in the last year. The reason the Oregon ODP mentioned ECNL is because they know it is their biggest threat. For now it is all we have but unless your kid is going to holdover and beyond you will not find much benefit to the program.

You are talking about 2000's, ECNL for them would not start till next year this year is the 99's. just watch the decline after next year you will see at regionals especially from WA, Calif., and other ECNL states. and where did you get the 8000.00 mark. ECNL is actually less then a local quality club team. Crossfire ECNL is only 5500.00 for the year which includes all fees, uni's, training with some of the best available coaches around and all travel expenses for the girls. look at the events that are included. League games vs quality teams, showcase events at Sanford, FL, Frisco,TX, San Diego,CA, Seattle,WA, NWCL and not to mention regionals and nationals. This is because there Is a big financial support that is covered by the club and its sponsors. Get your facts strait before you comment. Girls from out of the Seattle area train in their local area. The timbers are running this very poorly why do you think they have to beg to get any teams to their freindship cup. That tourney use to be a big event. You do relizethey give slots to teams for free to play like crossfire and their TA put together teams just to get games for ODP teams. If oregon ODP was so great why would they have to do that? No one cares about oregon ODP except the group taking your money for the pipe dream. Keep your "well to do" money and save it for college. But hey like it was said to each their own. Cheers.

Jesus. Do you hear this guy? No one wants to join the crazy train.

Ecnl costs way more than 5500 if you add up all expenses and no one thinks your crazy ass is the best kept secret. Face it. You sound like a looney making up things so people start thinking you are just a little bit less crazy.
