Moving to Portland area - Need Info

I and my family are moving to the Portland area, after the fall season We have 4 girls, so my questions are about the girls side obviously. Specifically, I would like to find a club that is most similar to the one we are used to now. The club we are coming from was full of Dutch coaches and stressed a total football philosophy.

I don't really care about which clubs are the best clubs in general and win the most trophies, or send the most kids to colleges or whatever, I am looking for a specific philosophy.

Are there any specific clubs that truly stick to, or try to stick to, a possession based style of play, 4-3-3, high pressure, etc. and which clubs are those?

I know that every club says they will and will mention Barcelona as often as they can, even while actually playing like Stoke City, but what clubs are known for actually playing on the ground, even if they constantly lose, or play at a lower level than others?

If there are not any clubs with a cohesive philosophy like this, are there any specific coaches in the area that are known for this style of play?

Thanks in advance for any helpful answers.

That's a tough one since here in Portland we specialize in boot ball and have taken that form to a industry leading level. What's this "playing on the ground" thing that you speak of? Sounds intriguing.

FC Portland & OSSA are the 2 clubs that fit closest to what you are looking for. FC is great for possession but not creativity. THUSC is your other choice, more creativity but much less possession emphasis. If you have u-14 or older then their possession skills should be string enough to do well at any of these 3 clubs.

There aren't a lot of choices if your daughters are looking for strong competitive teams. Also, depends on age & what their end goal is.

Good luck in deciding, get out & visit teams & look at historical results for each team. A good club does not make a good team & vice versus.

I agree with the possession and FC,but maybe not "High pressure" part of the game. And FC teams almost always play 4-4-2.

One thing I would consider is expense when traveling. If your girls teams play at the same place you could end up paying for 4/5 rooms (if you go) as OSSA and FC have travel policy's. THUSC and WSM are more flexible.

This is not true at all. Silly post.

Check out THUSC. Strong girls club with an emphasis on possession style of play.

I swear TA makes everyone in that club dedicate part of their day to posting on here and defending Thuscs honor if it ever threatened.

Between 2 kids we have been part of four different clubs. Only one played possession style and that was FC Portland. OSSA/crossfire was the most kick it long club.

                            All evidence to the contrary.
