Wow, I'll withhold the majority of my opinion about him until after the trial. I have seen way too many false allegations, but i'll let the cops do their job.
One thing this does bring up is how important it is for clubs/coaches to have rules they following when coaching to prevent this sort of thing from happenings. Actually to be honest the rules the clubs set forth really protect the innocent guys in most cases. I know that the club closest to me has rules that coaches can't give kids rides, can't be alone at the soccer field with the player, even if private coaching. Always need to have a parent present. This is a very good idea for coaches. Protect yourselfs, and clubs please protect yourselves from potential issues.

Ask a bank robber why he robs banks? "Because that's where the money is."
They preach, coach and teach because that where the kids are.
There have been a plethora of basketball, soccer, etc. coaches at the club, junior high and high school levels that have abused kids over the past few years. (FCP, Aloha United, West Linn, Beaverton, Catlin Cable, etc.) If they don't have records, it's almost impossible to predict these things happening.
The secret is to parent your kid. Be there, don't rely on someone else (a coach) to look after your kid, to give them rides and coach one on one without a parent there. Don't let them go 'hang' and eat pizza at his house, etc. Be a parent.
If it's a 12 year old kid. It must have been pretty recent.

Key point. Never let a coach be alone with a child at any age who in not related to them.
To many times (sorry to say it this way), parents are to trusting and leave their kid alone with a stranger they really do not know.
A good coach will not want to be alone with a child that is not related to them.
Simple but key point.

I would also agree we should hold judgement until the courts do there thing.
However it does open the door to talk about the situation in general.
Parents: its impossible to see this sort of thing coming. Its why its important to take care of your child by not putting them in situations where they can be abused (or do the best you can not to). Don't leave them alone iwth the coach or any parents for that matter. Talk to them about your "rules".
coaches: Release that the rules the club sets aren't really for the kids, they are to protect you as a coach.

Bail is set at 1.2 million. If you look back at the threads in this forum this is the third case in 2/3years. NOT new news
