You're right.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostWell, it's not the coach, it's the players. HS soccer is made up of a few good club players and a whole bunch of horrible to mediocre rec players. The more club players you have, the better you are. In HS, decision making about who you put on varsity, where you play them, and what formation you play, is the key to success. You might be able to teach some tactics, but the club players will always revert to what they are taught in club and good luck with teaching rec players tactics. For top club players, HS soccer is about as unimportant as it comes. Very laughable that people would worry about HS stats or team rankings.

Whether high school soccer is at a high level or important are two separate things. High school soccer was important to all the top club soccer players my kids played with. It's mostly parents who want to say their kid is on a top club team that say otherwise.

Agreed! Our HS was mostly club. So take 2-4 age groups from several clubs and you get an all star team!!! We had some great players with great attitudes, leadership and inspiration! Add school spririt and club doesn't even compare!
But apparently not all high schools are so

Too many kids coming in that are and they'll just beat you and take your spot. it's rough but just the way it is (and yes there is that rec kid that somehow stumbles in and good for them but all too often they get cut.)
