Yes. Oligarchy translated from its Greek origin means rule or command by a few, and can be an organization ruled by a small faction of individuals. You cannot dismiss one oligarchy group of a few, represented under OYSA (Chuck Keers, ED and staff, OYSA BOD), without doing the same for another oligarchy group of a few, the OPC. The OPC is run by DOCs that have to represent their clubs' BODs and youth membership. Both OYSA and the OPC operate within rules, bylaws, and policies of USCS and USSF. These are two separate organizations offering services to youth members. It is what it is, a democratic and healthy open competitive system of two groups in place under USSF and the Amateur Sports Act.

Not a fan of either OPC or OYSA, but at least OYSA has transparent board meetings, budgets, and open forums (AGM). OPC has 8 DOC's who share very little information with other clubs playing in OPL. We just pay fees and wait for their next brilliant moves.

Its clear OPL offered more flexibility about rosters and leagues. This is an improvement over OYSA's idiotic qualifying tournaments and roster rules. But OPL has never asked anyone to "join" its OPC. Just ask Bend, Eugene, Rogue Valley, Woodburn, Salem clubs whether OPL leaders ever ask for input. So what's better for the state... probably a toss up.

Agreed and my error. I meant to say that OYSA should consider asking to join the OPL-by submitting a list of teams from their leagues and cups to play, just as other memberships have one.

Transparency?! LOL! Not true.

As a nonprofit, they are required by law to provide information. When was the last time that OYSA posted updated board meeting minutes? The April minutes are actually regurgitated February minutes.

You have a choice. Based on your opinion, I seriously doubt that your child plays in the OPC events. If so, you are entitled to pay your fees to play for OYSA if you consider everything that they do to be brilliant moves.

Doesn't matter. As the previous poster said, both OPC and OYSA operate under USSF and the Amateur Status Act guidelines for youth soccer. There is no conflict of interest.Also OYSA has paid staff and the OPC has paid staff. OYSA rent office space and has admin and operating expenses. So does the OPC.
