I see a lot of crap on this board about FCSC. Aren't they also about youth soccer?
It is about the money and egos. There are good coaches and people at the Timbers as there is with Crossfire.

How is the Timber's brand on the Timber's Alliance any different the the Crossfire brand on OSSA?
For one the Timber Alliance Clubs did not have to fork over 6 figures as OSSA had to do to get the Crossfire Brand.

GW and the Timbers have made it clear to the OPL that they are out to make money. The Timbers are more important than youth soccer.
At least local youth clubs and Crossfire are focused on kids and not solely focused on a for profit professional sports team leaching money from youth programs. Why else did the Timbers want $60k from the OPL? Why are the Timbers taking $60k away from youth soccer? It should be the reverse! They should be helping to fund youth soccer, not taking away from it!

Show anyone proof here that OSSA paid out anything close to that. I call BS. I can see a profit sharing relationship, but not a straight up front payment for the brand name. How dumb can crossfire be ? not that dumb

In addition, Crossfire will serve boys and girls equally. The Timbers do not even take enough pride in the girls side to get the girls a proper uniform. I imagine with the THORNS here now our girls will eventually get a uniform that fits.
This said, I am not frustrated, mad, or angry with with Timbers. I figure it is a business and they need to run it how they see fit. Only time will tell if it works. They have done some really great things and there is NO doubt that any time you bring any professional sport to town, the youth section of that sport gets more numbers. Crossfire will bring numbers to OSSA but it will not likely bring numbers to the sport. There are benefits to both .

This is more like having a tryouts where you have 60 kids and the top 20 are head and shoulders above everyone.
It also depends on how deeply you examine what the best on a team means. If you take the best attackers, what about the defenders, if you end up with a bunch of dribblers who don't pass...anyways, hopefully you get the point. Don't assume that just mixing up the best players from many different teams will produce something much much better. I don't believe that would be borne out looking through sports in general.

All this talk about Timbers alliance is only out to make money makes me sick... I say that becuase yes the timbers are a professional club, but 99% of the employees that work in the alliance all do it for the kids. They have done it for the kids before the timbers went pro, and are still doing it now. How can you say they are doing it for the money when you have no idea what hte costs will be? Isn't that just being ignorant and assuming things?
What if the only costs they charge these kids are a small fee for the coaches coaching them, and any fees that come from travel and tournaments? If thats the case how can you say they are in it for the money? Those would be very fair charges.

Maybe only a little better, maybe a lot better, but almost every time be better.

My Son played for a very talented team, one which won multiple state championships. Surprisingly at that time only one or two of his teammates were involved in ODP. Each year as we got ready for regionals we would scrimmage the ODP team, and consistently beat them.
They were supposedly the collection of all the brightest stars, but they couldn't beat a club team that had played together for several years.

Great post thank you. This happens more often than not on every playing field. Great coaches understand this and really see the field of players and what each one of them brings
