Well actually the serious college coaches carry clip boards and take notes throughout a game so in a way they are wearing sandwich boards.

I saw them all afterwards at Safeway. I really don't believe your remarks in that I know a few of the coaches mentioned who always go to games incognito. Unless you personally known them, you didn't see them. And if you mean Southern Oregon when you mention "Southern", I believe you as he shows up for garage sales, too. P.S.: Did you mean to imply head coaches or assistants?

Head and assistants, dressed in college gear and not. Linus, (OR State) was laughing it up with a large group of the parents and coaches in the back corner of the field, hard to miss. Yes, I meant Southern OR coach. I see him at everything as well (is this a good thing or bad thing?)

You really should stop talking to yourself on blogs.
I have seen over 400 D1 and lower coaches and assistants scout players at tournaments from Vegas to Surf over the past 6 years and I know first hand the ones that are there to take serious looks at players are taking notes. If they are not taking notes they are there to watch players they already know perform therefore these are not really "scouting" events.

If the college coaches at the OPL Cup were not taking notes they were there to see how their targeted players were performing under pressure and not "scouting" for new players.

The post is about the U-15 finals. Those players are typically freshman in high school, but maybe some may be sophomores. My take is that the above poster is just trying to imply that there were many college coaches there. There may have been. But the comment about Linus is simply not true, unless the poster is talking about parents of older players, not the ones playing.

1. I know Linus from when my daughter played for him a couple of years back. He never sticks out when at a high school age game. I'm sure he hasn't changed.
2. Parents are treated by NCAA rules as though they were the student-athlete.
3. Sophomore contacts: Brochures can be sent to recruits along with questionnaires. Recruits can call the coach, coach can't call you. NO OFF-CAMPUS CONTACTS,
4. Junior contacts: Coach can send recruiting material. You can call coach. NO OFF-CAMPUS contact until after 7/1 after a recruit's junior year.
5. The NCAA relaxed rules earlier this year on contact through texts, etc. have been
thrown out. It's back to the previous rules.

Hence, I sincerely doubt the above implied Linus & parents interactions ever occurred unless they were with someone like me; no kid being recruited.

Oregon State, Linus, was at the final game. UO, UW and Gonzaga were at the Copa v. FC semi final game. No parents talked to them to the best of my knowledge although perhaps parents or adults not associated with our team spoke to them. All of our parents were focused on the game and didn't want to talk to anyone.
