Don't you need to be challenged to work on your game? Silver is a big drop down. No wonder Bend jumped at the chance to be in Premier. Bend is looking at development opportunities over wins.

Because Bend is a mighty Timbers team

If you look back at the spring season and state cup, there were only two games, both in the state cup, where Bend was blown out. So perhaps they feel that they can compete at the gold level.

Yes, Bend was smart to take a spot in Gold, even if they end up at or near the bottom. Eugene was short-sighted by the lure of getting wins in Silver and gifted Bend a better situation.

            Age group changes.

Any predictions on what the top 02G and 03G teams will be once the age groups change next year.

What current teams at this age have the most 2003 on their current team?

For 02G I predict it will be CFC.

A CFC pure 2002 birth year team will lead the state (and do well regionally) by a huge margin, if play ups are severely limited.

TikiTaka (if they can stay together) and TS will likely rule the pure 2003 birth year teams. Maybe WashT and FCP shake out well at 2003 also.

For TikiTaka and TS, how many of their current team is 2003 girls?

Eugene 2003 birth year team will be able to rejoin Gold and be a serious Premier contender if star 2003s are kept on a pure 2003 team. A Eugene 2002 birth team remains relatively strong (as does their pure 2001 team).

TikiTaka allegedly mostly 2003s. Based on ODP players, TS also mostly 2003s, but not sure. FCP most likely has plenty of good 2003s.

It depends, if any clubs allow play ups and try to keep teams together, they will fall many places in the rankings vs any clubs/teams that go pure birth year. We're going pure birth year and hoping others don't so we can move way up!

What are the 2003 birth year numbers/quality like at Eastside? WaTimbers? Revolution?

For TT it really will depends on their defenders. They are what keep that team in games. TS had at least 5 girls at the 2002 RTC tryouts, so it is hard to predict if that team will spit evenly or not. Since neither TT or TS have a 2001 team to draw 2002 payers from (TS 2001 team is not good) it is unlikely that either can play 2002 birth year at a high level. TS has a strong 03 team right now, so likely they can maintain there level of play at the 2003 age group. Since there is not a 03G TT team, they will rely on recruiting. Had they stayed at BSC they could likely have picked up payers from the 03G state cup champions.

For the 2002 age group it is pretty clear that CFC will dominate if the best player in the state keeps playing there.

CFC made it to the semis at Regionals, semis in NWCL, qtrs at Mustang - all with a largely 2002 team. If the top player stays, CFC 2002s will do even better.
