So as it goes, they were probably more right than WT parents were going into to tryouts (just trying to keep it real here). From what it sounds, most of Valencia went back to FCSC, true? And maybe a handful went to WT. I gather that WT Reds are happy with their team as well, filling some spots but mostly remaining the same. But in the end, probably got a little better... Being that they were already great, that is an awesome team. WT Greens, this team will be very interesting, and probably the biggest question mark. How good will they be? Where will they play?

If I had to guess based on all that I have heard (still trying to keep it real here), I imagine that WT Reds are still the best team in SW Wa. But FCSC sounds to be a formidable competitor. Could FCSC beat the Reds? absolutely. which team will come together best as a team. It will be interesting to see. I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see the WT Greens suprise some people too.
oh yeah in the spirit of keeping it real. 2 of the old Valencia stayed with the WT organization (1 was added to the 99 Reds and the other to the 98s Reliance). The Reds did pick up very solid goalie from Pacific during the tryouts who may well be the best athlete at goalie in the GU-14 age group. The Reds were also pressured to take 2 former Liberty players from the merger with WSA who may contribute or may not. Time will tell. The Reds will likely be at the top of the RCL again provided their top striker is available and injury free.

Salmon creek did get much better and will definitely be a legit opponent for the Reds should they meet this summer. SC will also push the top 2-3 OPL Premier teams to get better as well.

The WT Greens will be better than the former WT blues by a little. They will be competitive at D1 of the OPL and could finish in the top half of their fall league if they are able to take advantage of their former Reds player and 4-5 other try-out pickups. I will be surprised if the Greens shock anybody without a consistent infusion of guest players from the 99 Reds team!

At U14, ECNL does not take nearly as much of a player's time as it does at U15 and above. Last year the Timbers Striker played for the Crossfire U14 ECNL team, which will now be a U15 team. Assuming she stays with the same ECNL team, she will be available to the Timbers much less this year than she was last year. The Timbers, of course, are a very solid team without her. But a player like that is a difference-maker, and the Timbers will be a different team without her than with her.

WT families are just freaking out because the 99 team is going to be the 2nd best team in SW WA.
If Joe could invest 50 percent of his time in the other teams like he does the 99's, then they might not have the mass exodus in coaches and players in all their other age groups. It's the Tina Frimpong club. All time is spent on her three teams, the whole website is devoted to everything she does.
So not sure why you keep bragging about one or two age groups while the rest of the club is crumbling.

Now that tryouts are over are there any truth to the statements on the forum that FCSC is going to get in trouble for recruiting or was that all hot air? Seems like hot air to me.

seems more like jealousy, fear, and envy of the competition getting better.

Agreed. Just WT parents being jealous and trying to start drama.

This is pretty funny. I still think they are going to get hit with something, but we won't know till further along. Now that tryouts are over the directors who make up the OPL can actually spend some time on this. It wasn't just made up stuff. When you contact around 20 kids during the season that is flat out against the rules. Especially when you are dumb enough to contact a player who has ties to a board member of one of the clubs.

No, I am a FCSC parent. Son plays FCSC. Worried if true will hurt his team.

You will be okay. No one cares about the boys side a SC, so you will be fine.

                            We have 5 boys teams
                            U10 very low select
                            U11 very low select
                            U16 very low select
U18 premier (not too bad) and a select.

That is it. All time spent on the girls side. I heard Burgess did not make a team this year, so one more team lost on girls side also. Most good players left. U17 girls had to join to make a team and it will not be a very strong team. But they will still charge them Premier prices. But go 99's!

They are not going to punish any rec. teams. Only the Premier teams. It would be best to move clubs though. As FCSC cares little about the boys side.

Excessive use of guest players and play-ups may be allowable, but committing to and promising players on other teams starting positions and playing time ahead of open try-outs is not only unethical, but goes against the OPL rules of conduct regarding recruiting. Those players who were approached and did accept obviously won't speak up. But any that were approached and given advance guarantees but then got turned down or declined offers could spell trouble.

The fact that 3 of the guest players from Pacific FC who trained and played much of the season on Nemesis (including on their state cup roster) chose not to tryout for FCSC is enlightening.

It still remains to be proven that no violation of the roster consistency rule has occurred. If their '99G state roster consisted of the 15 players in the team photo and 3 of the rostered guests did not return, then SC can only afford to lose 2 more from that roster in order to have the minimum 10 returning players. Should be a very easy thing for OPL to verify.
