Anyone out there arguing that Jesuit should be allowed to compete in OSAA as a private school that recruits is just stupid. Jesuit was ranked #1 in the US for athletics. Do any of you question how or why? Because they are allowed to do this. In most private prep school environments they prep schools compete against other prep schools. Not in a league of only public HS.

How do we petition OSAA to finally make a change to this? Or are we really ok with the idea that people like Ryan Johnson and Fennah and the others will continue to manipulate the governing body for their own gain at the expense of all other athletes.

Callan Harrington smashed the goal scoring record at Jesuit….not hard to do when 8 starters on that team were D1 players and some all Americans. By the way all hand picked recruited from Crossfire Premier and Thorns DA. I know this for a fact.

Stop the BS and call/write as much as you can to OSAA and file complaints. Make them answer to this. It’s not about winning, it’s about a level playing field. They can play Central Catholic, St Mary’s, Caitlin Gabel, OES, Valley Catholic. See how long they can keep the recruits coming in when they don’t play the public schools or compete in 6A

its’s the only way this stops. Write and call, non stop until they answers

Or let athletes choose the public HS they want to attend. Open it up like a transfer portal. Otherwise, shut the private schools out of competing against public schools.

its a clear advantage they have. Make OSAA give a public on the record statement as to why they allow this.

After looking up more info on Jesuit due to this thread, it is clear that this school is totally gaming the system. They win nearly every year the OSAA Cup award given to the school that wins the most amount of events in each sport. It actually hilarious that this is allowed given the very clear advantage they have and how obviously they are recruiting players..

Oh wait….Jesuit is only concerned about academic excellence and that is why these kids go there, right? Ummmmm. Not even in the top 10 of GPA avg. for the girls soccer team. Kind of hard to explain that one now.

Strange how all other Private schools are in the top 10…. But not good ole Jesuit. Seems like they aren’t so concerned about the quality or rigor of the education as much as dominating in HS sports.

Keep trying to sell the idea of the elite education at Jesuit. The numbers don’t lie folks. But hey, Steve will get your daughter a shiny ring to wear that says they are state champs.

OSAA is a joke for allowing this to happen.

I dislike Jesuit, but this is pretty stupid to hang your hatred on. The average GPA of the team is 3.73 and they are 14th. Gads. Get back to the other issues.

Hard to say what a B is worth at Jesuit versus schools like Roosevelt, or Cleveland. So yeah, stupidity here.

Go Jesuit! Fantastic education that prepares students for college and an athletic program 2nd to none. OSAA knows Jesuit, deal with it.

You just made everyone’s point….the other private schools are not cheating. Only Jesuit. Always been that way. That is the point of this entire thread

Not hard to say what it means at St Mary’s. They don’t cheat and their team is 2nd in the state with GPA.

Jesuit is supposed to be an elite academic school. Average below top ten in the state is not elite. Sorry Jesuit parent.

This is yet another piece of evidence that the girls on this team were brought on for athletics, not academics. Look at the other Catholic schools. They are outperforming at St Mary’s and Central Catholic. No one has ever accused their coaches of recruiting. In fact St Mary’s is the opposite of that, they don’t allow freshman to play varsity with very few exceptions.

this matters. It shows an underperformance of academics to their peer schools, but an outperformance of athletics. Where is their priority focused?

I just heard this is news to OSAA. They had no idea Jesuit was winning this much. More importantly, they had no idea a freshman took your kid's spot. I heard the Pope himself was coming to look into girls soccer.

Nice try RJ you created this environment of friends with benefits last year.
Taking Algebra 1, History and Health with part time soccer teachers like SF isn’t a real GPA. Anyone got into Stanford, UCLA, Princeton I don’t think so.

John Oliver was going to do an episode on this. But it turns out that nobody cares.
