There's no rules against it, and many teams do it. As long as the kid is playing in their correct age category, there is nothing that says they can't. It would be a nightmare to police this situation.

9th grade kidd thatt make a Varsity squad in HS don't even consider playing u15 oysa leagues designed for tje trapped 8th graders.
There is no policing needed, just a a drop of common sense.

so yes, BS move by the coach and club. The unethical part is where one team using assets that the other team will not use just to win.

        So what was the score????

Most high school kids that play high level soccer are still playing club during the high school season. I spoke with a scout from San Diego State last week and he’s actively scouting Oregon club games right now. He wouldn’t tell which games he has attended but through process of elimination, I assume it’s ECNL games.

Spoke to a 3rd assistant with the Aztecs, he is reviewing clips from the NFHS live streams of OSAA HS games , since his school has zero budget $$ for recruiting travel in the fall , they prioritize their Fall recruiting efforts on bringing in kids.on official visits.during home stands.

As a side note, no Clubs play during their HS season across the USA,. Oregon clubs shut down in the Fall for HS ages. Washington.HS aged club soccer shuts down in Spring during the boys HS spring and girls HS Fall season.

Your opening sentence is nonsensical since it's' not possible for High level HS players (Soph/Juniors and Seniors) to play both club and HS at the same time as the sanctioning league bodies for club soccer in the USA: usys and us club shut down HS club play for all states during their respective HS seasons.

.Your 2nd sentence is pure comedy as an SDSU scout could be a seeing eye dog attending a game at Delta park.

Head scratching posts are the norm here nowadays.

              1. College coaches don’t scout during season - they just don’t have the time.

              2. HS freshman (who don’t have Fall birthdays) are legal to play in Fall OYSA. It’s often necessary to allow the trapped 8th graders to field a team. Don’t they deserve to play too? My oldest DD was a trapped player the first year things were switched to birth year. She was thankful that HS freshman showed up to help fill the roster.

              3. Don’t worry about Fall 8th grade results. They’re just for fun. Enjoy the ride. Your time is coming to an end.

Nevermind that female athletes are more prone to ACL injuries. Whatever.

it is a club issue and a parent issue. Parents are suckers and will often do whatever to make the club or coach happy without regard to whether their kid will suffer. I don’t blame the parents so much—we only see one kid. We don’t see the bigger picture or have the training to know about such things like overuse injuries or whatever.
If it’s a freshman maybe she is not getting many game minutes and this is an opportunity to get some in. HS practice is not that taxing on the body at most schools it’s nothing more than a kick and giggle

You have obviously been hitting the electric lettuce again. Many many high school kids are playing club during the HS season.

Most of the high level national clubs are still playing. I agree, it is too much soccer and dangerous. We’ve already seen a high percentage of kids with knee and ankle injuries due to over use.

Sorry you didn't know that every state has a different HS season, some Fall, some Winter and some Spring. That's why they ca play club soccer in the Fall as they play HS in a different season.

Last time I checked, we were talking about Oregon HS soccer. If you wanna talk about CA high school soccer, go to the CA page.

Most, if not all, states have different club and high school seasons. Multi-state leagues can get confusing.

Pretty common for a Freshman to play club if* they end up on JV or JV2.

Makes sense as it's a lower level than HS JV for sure. Playing in the park with toddlers on the weekends is a win win.

Washington's US Club (NW ecnl conf.) Fall results confirm that OR club soccer is nonexistent at this time.
