Anyone finding their kids in a situation post tryouts with your kids team without enough players to form actually form a team? Are some of the larger clubs still looking for players after tryouts? 2010 girls?

The process seems to vary across clubs but there is definitely lots that could be done to make the tryout/rostering process more coordinated and efficient. Some clubs do tryouts and select new players without a real sense of how many of their current players will return. That is a recipe for disaster, once their intake of the new players is over and they either have too many/too few kids returning.
However, given the chaos that is youth sports, we're unlikely to see much coordination! -
First, tryouts are still occurring. So, not sure how you assess this. At least OYSA is still occurring.
2nd, Oregon in general is seeing a decline in students in the region. Just look at the state education student information. Some leaving the state, but there’s a general decline in people having babies. So, it would make sense that the number of teams the state (city) had 5 years ago would have to be less.

Hit or miss for us. We have four clubs that are close by and for my older child's age group....
Club #1 merged their 2011/2012's due to low numbers
Club #2 is starting a 2011 group but fell short and so they are combining with 2012s for their first season with a team in this age bracket
Club #3 added another team to the age bracket and had to make cuts
Club #4 kept all four of their teams but had to cut almost an entire teams worth of kids.
Tryouts were last week so some of the kids that didn't make a team are now going after Club #2 to add to their list of interested kids to see if there are enough to possibly form separate 2011/2012 teams.
