Any kids drop in games? U9 & U11. Visiting this weekend. moving in July

    Hi,

I'm visiting from March 9-15 with my wife and 2 boys in U9 & U11.
We're moving to the Beaverton area in July.
    My kids are soccer obsessed.
Are there any sort of kids drop in games that exist? Perhaps something indoor to avoid the rain this weekend?
My U9 plays top tier where we live now and is progressing very fast. The U11 is currently playing 3rd tier, but is more obsessed about the watching the game and technical progression.
I'd love for them to meet and play with some other kids if thats at all possible.

My kids do not know about the move yet, so we're trying to introduce them to the area and spoil them to get them excited about Portland.
Any other ideas to spoil them from a soccer perspective would be appreciated (I know nothing going on at Providence Park while we are there, but we are going to go see a Saunders game on the 16th., as well as a trailblazers on the 11th as thats their 2nd fav sport)

We have not decided on a club to join yet as we also haven't figured out exactly where we're living.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Welcome to the area. To avoid the rain, definitely go check out Rode City Futsal. There's two locations, one on the eastside and a second on westside in Tigard (which is next to Beaverton. Here's the website. https://rosecityfutsal.com/ RCF has year-round programming and games. However, a huge amount of the youth action is in the Winter. League soccer (outdoors) has resumed, so that's what most teams are playing these days. If you want to find a U9 or U11 game to check out, schedules are listed here in the drop down menu on the upper right: select 2024 Spring League. https://oregonyouthsoccer.org/

For U9 level games, the schedules can be found by clicking 2024 Spring Dev League. You might consider contacting a U9 or U11 coach to ask if your kids to join a practice while here. You can find the coaches names and contact information by clicking on the team name in the schedules. https://oregonyouthsoccer.org/ The West Portland/Beaverton area clubs include United PDX, NW Elite and Westside Metros. A further west option is FC Portland.

I agree that if your kiddos are soccer obsessed, expose them to Rose City Futsal. It's daily schedules for both locations can be found here. https://rosecityfutsal.com/daily-schedule/ During weekends, the days are filled with kids league games and the evenings with adult league games. During the week, there's some classes and trainings for kids during the days, and again adult games during the evenings. You might consider checking out a Saturday or Sunday game with your kids, and perhaps calling RCF in advance to ask if there's a weekday class or training that your kids could join.

If they are soccer obsessed, do what all the greats do go out and work with ball, use your imagination, motivation and effort as your guide

            . You will be noticed.

Indoor Hard court soccer daycare led by rubes at exorbitant prices is the 'soccer chow' served up for our ignorant masses.

            Which you are not.

            The choice is yours.

Beware the know-it-all trolls like the person above. They find thrill in spewing negativity, and make this site (intended as a place to discuss YOUTH sports) unnecessarily toxic.

That said, welcome to Portland/Beaverton. I hope you find success in making your kids excited about the area. Separate from soccer, kids-oriented places/adventures include OMSI, the Oregon Zoo, Forestry Center, PDX Playdate, and a host of others. This website posts a daily schedule of known kid-oriented events: https://pdxparent.com/events-calendar/

Talking about soccer on this forum is called trolling and marketing.

Sell your nonsense somewhere else, perhaps your home page on the web?. Meanwhile let the players that love the game go play.

You can't deflect or pivot on this one, who in God's name would be promoting Rose City? as has an Avenue for soccer development?

It's a commercial endeavor that is simply laughable.

                Keep pitching sparky...

So what you're saying, genius, is that this person should send her/his kids out in the rain to kick a ball around, as a way to get them excited about moving to the area. GTFO! If you want to post your theories about various clubs being trash, and/or sell the idea that kicking around the backyard is the real way to advance in soccer, find another thread.

BTW, I'm a soccer consumer, not a seller. My kids play for clubs they enjoy, play at RCF with their clubs in the Winter season and have a great time doing so, and also partake in other/extra training that I've agreed to pay for. You can say I'm wasting my money, go ahead, I don't care. My kids are having fun, and I'll continue paying for soccer activities that my kids enjoy.

Does the idea that kids' enjoyment is a primary focus compute with you?

And, if you don't think that playing futsal helps a kids develop balls skills and first touch, you're you out of your mind.

Go back to the basement, troll.

Suggestion have your kids work on developong social skills and form friendships with other kids who love playing sport , without having to PAY for that experience. This skill will keep them from being locked in the basement with you in the later years.
