Just wondering the status of ODP in Oregon. Has it died completely? Haven’t heard much from anyone about the program and I assume that means it may be over?

Looks like someone had too much to drink and got tricky with their admin access to the OYSA website. What a piss poor excuse of an ODP program.

Oregon ODP is a disaster. I really don't get why OYSA can't put together a decent scouting process where top players are invited to join. If then they decide not to do it because of money at least they tried. And why isn't subsidized or they get a sponsor? It should be free for players.

Now that lots of the clubs are in ECNL or ECNL-R, do they still encourage ODP, or is ODP considered a yucky USYS program that ECNL (US Club) teams and players aren't supposed to touch with a ten foot pole?

My daughter, who plays high level ECNL and has been afforded several of the ECNL opportunities listed above, still benefited immensely from ODP participating at the U17 age level, though I cannot promise the experience would be the same for all athletes. In my opinion, ODP was least valuable if a player just practices locally and has to pay $400 then pay $1200+ to go to the Arizona tournament. However, it became more valuable if a player was selected for the West regional camp, even more valuable if they were selected to the Interregional Camp and ultimately the most valuable if selected to the National camp with the opportunity to travel internationally too. Escalating value was due to increasingly better coaching, better teammates and additional opportunities that were provided outside a player’s everyday club team experience. These opportunities develop new confidence and new ways to think and improve, and a player can gain new “soccer friend connections” that often provide a player with new perspectives on colleges/recruiting/training.
ODP’s “special sauce” is getting a player away from their everyday club team and into a mixed, any player from any league is welcome environment. If they marketed this better and worked to get more funding to lower the cost, it would help this program.

I think they meant Different weekends for ECNL in FL. The boys aren’t affected by this.
My kids have done odp, I don’t think it’s expensive for what they’ve done.
One has made it farther and enjoyed the mixing with other players around the area and then the region. The other barely makes the pool play but still likes it

ECNL has taken over scouting grounds and top coaches mainly focus their time at their showcases. Mostly on the girls side, but boys as well. MLS has channeled their top prospects completely away from ODP. For good reason, the level of soccer is pretty bad.
my 2 cents from someone who has watched this program over the last decade. It is a mere shell of what it once was. Not only for Oregon, but nationally as well.
