GIVOVA Super Cup - Timbers Alliance

Noticed that there are 3 BU13 "Timbers Alliance" teams participating in the GIVOVA Super Cup.

Are these existing teams from the Alliance clubs or teams specifically formed for this tournament? Are these the teams that will become the U13/14 Timbers Academy teams?

Just formed for this tournament. It was fun seeing boys from the Alliance teams bond and play together. Chemistry not quite there yet, but it was a great experience up in Seattle. I hear they are even thinking of sending one team to the Surf Cup (maybe).

You can't just send to Surf, you have to get accepted

Some organisations have a little more "pull" than others...

No, they don't. You've never been, I guess.

First, I wouldn't want to go unless I earned it, hence somewhat of a confirmation that my team is roughly of the same type of quality at this tournament. I wouldn't want to travel to Surf and get my tail handed to me like some teams did in Vegas recently.

Second, I bet determining who the coach will be should be entertaining. Or does that come down to "pull" also. I won't go any further on that topic.

Trust me, Surf is no different than the others. Those with connections will always get in if they want to. Not saying it's right, but it's just the way it's done everywhere.

If you don't care about quality just go...There are two groups at Surf, there is the general open group, and there is the pool of invited teams that make the super group. Those who brag about Surf and their victories there have played in the super group.

Something that OPL seems to blur over and over, the great out of state tournaments are ones you qualify to get into. the general admission tournaments like Surf's lower group, and US Club regionals are not much to brag about.

There is not a Super Group at u13, I don't think the Super Groups start until u16. So more than ambitious for this team to get into Surf.

Surf is very different and no there is no "pull" as you seem to think. You have to accomplish some things before they will even consider you. If the Timbers Alliance wants to get in then they need to field the best team they can and win some things.

There aren't too many Oregon teams that have won the super group at Surf so there shouldn't be too much bragging or are you referring to winning individual games in a super group.

True. Too bad no one in this state cares about girls.
