I'd love to hear anecdotes about any Oregon players that went on to play college soccer and where they ended up. No names or specifics needed, but I'm curious about what level of player (MLS Next vs ECNL vs. OYSA vs. ODP vs. other leagues, mens or womens), estimate of where they fell on that team (top 3 player, top 10 player, bottom half, etc), what types of schools they applied to (all D3, a mixture of D1/2/3, all D1, etc), and what level they ultimately ended up at. Maybe what percentage of aid (academic or otherwise) they received? Just trying to get a sense of what could a top 5 or top 10 ECNL/OYSA/GA/MLS Next player (top 5 or 10 on their team - not in the region) be aiming for in terms of college? Id love to hear real world examples of kids applying to play college soccer and the outcome. Wondering if playing in college is realistic for a lot of Oregon players.

I also would love to hear about this. Great topic. But good freaking luck getting anything of substance out of this forum. PROVE ME WRONG!

As a coach not from Portland but who coached both boys and girls in Portland for eight years, I have coached two USYNT national team players who got offers to D1 schools, and neither ended up staying at D1. One went NAIA; one went Pro overseas. More recently, some not-superstars I have coached have gone to community college ball and star on their teams; one who made All-State 2nd team last year went D3 and should be a star there (I wish they went D1 as I told them to). Two players in this year’s USL2 National Championship match are doing D1 and D2 this year.
Pretty much no one gets a full ride, but pretty much everyone is expected to raise funds like it’s their third job; 1) Student, 1) Athlete (not a typo), 3) Fundraiser.

Been coaching boys for over 20 year in Portland. Only 1 full ride. Mostly kids go NAIA, D3 or JuCo. A few D2 privates schools in CA and Pacific NW. Used to get kids in D1 but with the MLS academy, transfer portal and international students very few D1's

Brian Johnson, Mountainside HS (WSM 05 Copa Red ) -> Oregon State
Vova Kubrakov, Mountainside HS* (T2, Timbers Academy) -> San Diego
Drew Pederson, Jesuit HS (OPFC) -> Gonzaga
*Full time Academy plater, did not play HS soccer.
Interestingly enough, three of the five didn't play so much as a minute for TA. (And one of the two who did got recruited by his old club coach).
Don't know about D2. Lots of graduating seniors did land somewhere in college though.
