Oblivious OYSA runs ODP tryouts in sweltering heat

Irresponsible is an understatement… it was 100 degrees this afternoon.

    Toughen up butter cup.

West regionals the last couple years were over 100 degrees and at 4000 foot too.

Meh. Apples to oranges. One has teams traveling from out of state and a small window to play games. Other is the state soccer board and the first ODP practice not until December. Their beer bellied evaluators were sweeting their shirts just standing there. Should’ve figured would be rough for the girls. OYSA ODP off to a rough start.

Athletes play, parents complain. Be a better parent. I went for a run while my kid did their tryout.

Sure, buddy. you’re definitely not some random parent. Stop trying to justify the way oysa crapped out in their 1st attempt at running something significant.

Just because I don’t agree with your take I must be a coach or part of OYSA? Seems you always take the easy route out on accepting someone doesn’t agree with you the same way you are trying to take the easy route for your kid.

“I went for a run…” stop it. It was 100 degrees. What do you have to gain by BSing?

This is their 2nd attempt. They already crapped their first attempt last season. Evaluators sweat their shirts for a different reason -- completely strung-out, TWEAKERS.

The only OYSA apologists are OYSA employees themselves. Simply out of touch with youth soccer. Recycled and long tenured employees.

I’m training for the Portland marathon and have a schedule, no need to lie here. Some of us parents want to stay in shape , some of you sit around to watch your kids fail at odp and complain about the weather

It was the most organized I have seen ODP in the last 4 years. it was great to see the work by the OYSA team. The real test will be picking better teams. When many ages struggled in regionals because coaches picked kids from their club they knew over actually evaluating players. I am hoping results are at the same level or better and we have a win getting out of the thumb of Timbers/thorns.

My daughter was out there the afternoon session on Sunday. There were plenty of water breaks. Plenty of subbing. Session was shortened to 90 minutes. My daughter said it was fine and she felt good at the end. I have zero issues with the way it was run.

It wasn’t unbearably hot but OYSA probably could’ve postponed it especially since there’s no ODP action until Dec. Now, local trainer Kalif, on the other hand, has been running his $300 a pop camps under the radar for the past 3 days…100-degree weather…

I agree. it was hot, but really organized compared to prior years. A little disappointing to see some of the same coaches out there, but I would say a decent first try.

Safesport doesn’t cover cash grabs unfortunately
