Is anyone else in this state noticing a specific detail that highlights how far behind Oregon is ?
You have a few clubs stating they're now developing "academies" that compete. Why are they still playing in OYSA leagues at all? What's the difference? I mean, if the OPFC and other academies are playing in local tournaments and rather than regional, like an academy would look abroad, wouldn't that then suggest not only does Oregon not have player but their coaches ( all clubs) suck too?
"Oregon Premier FC will provide the highest possible level of technical and tactical training, athletic development and competitive team play. We will offer our highly-skilled and capable players with endless opportunity to further excel in the sport and in the classroom. It is Oregon Premier FC’s goal to become recognized across the United States as a consistently successful soccer club that provides model development for its players, both in terms of soccer development and personal growth." (The only academy pulling from to distinct clubs working together LO and WUFC).
Best part "highly-skilled and capable." But can't win even in top tournament bracket groupings. I mean, really? Why aren't you playing in the regional leagues only? There are clubs that figured it out.
UNITED PDX, CAPITAL, OPFC, NW "elite" .....all claim to have Academy squads. All of which are playing in local tournaments and when they go out of state F/M they get smashed?
If you're a parent of one of these players please do respond with how you feel that the same leagues any club locally can play in, your "elite" crew is playing in as well because they cannot win in regional leagues?
Do any of you get it? What truly is an academy? How is it different between a regular club squad and the "academy" labeled squad? Please remind yourself local clubs aren't using academy as a reference to age but to a distinct grouping of "top talent."
