UP is a very good camp, draws players from around the country, although most are from Oregon and Washington. It was worth the money and since it is local, you can go watch the scrimmages in the evening.
My DD went to the OSU residency camp and came away with new knowledge and even more passion for the game. Other parents that I have spoken with since were very happy with the OSU residency camps.
I am not directly familiar with the UP camp. A few, three, parents thought it was OK, but weren't as pleased as the OSU camp parents. May be they were just not as out going.
May just boil down to the type of college you may think your player would like to know more about or possibly attend.
My daughter did U of P last year as a goal keeper. She came back with a new level of confidence. She was with girls from OR, CA, WA, AK and TX. We will do this camp again next year. We have no experience with OSU.
Hi,
I wanted to post a quick blurb about camps that I run throughout the year. I usually run a summer, winter, and spring break camp. I used to coach the Goalkeepers at the U of P camp for a few summers and realized that they did not have the space the needed for training properly and branched off to offer my own camps since I have over 20 years coach experience in soccer and I specialize in goalkeepers.
I run a camp that is limited to 20 players per camp, when the number of registered reaches over 20 I run an additional camp. This allows me one on one time to focus on the players and we have ample space to practice.
If you are interested in a Spring Break Camp or future camps take a look at my website at www.sandvoldsoccer.com, and look at the Camps section. I am a fraction of the cost for all of my camps and they get the same high level of instructions as they would at a Timbers of U of P camp, but they get the attention that those camps lack due to the numbers that turn out. I can also provide professional and player references if you would like to know more. One of my keepers attended the timbers camp last summer and then attended my camp and told me he wished he had just gone to my camp two weeks in a row.
I just wanted to do a quick share in case there are any parents or players out there looking for camps or private lessons and are having trouble finding a good coach.
