New UO - Soccer Coach Kat Mertz
This is a great hire for the Oregon soccer team. There are many very talented ladies already on the roster and I've heard from several sources the incoming 2013 recruit class is outstanding. This will give Coach Mertz a great foundation on which to build. Sometimes a program needs a kick-start after becoming stagnant and Coach Mertz is the right person at the right time. Her experience at the national team level, as well as her time coaching at UCLA and Texas will be invaluable as Oregon begins to rebuild. If you look at the Texas roster the caliber of players she was able to recruit is pretty impressive. So combine her past recruiting experience and connections, along with Oregon's impressive facilities and Coach Mertz should have no problem continuing to bring the nations top players to Oregon. The local soccer fans out in Eugene should definitely be excited about the future of Duck soccer!!!!

New Oregon Soccer Coach
Coach Mertz seems to have experience in the right areas to help improve Oregon's program. However, there will be a lot of pressure on her right away to turn things around. Go Ducks!!!

If this coach is what people say, the new 2013 recruits won't be pleased.
The 2013 recruits smack of Tara and Mac with their look at me run fast and foul people on the way type of style.
Hopefully Kat can turn the program around, get it on track with California style teams, and show OSU that UoO can play good skilled soccer as well. As of right now, UoO is known as a track style team and nothing more. The 2013 recruits won't change that.
