    Best OYSA Girls Clubs

Who are the best clubs for OYSA girls soccer ?

    #2
If we’re only considering OYSA I’d say United PDX with Eastside as a distant second. PCU has some decent teams, but there is a massive drop off between 1st and 2nd (3rd, 4th, 5th) team.

It depends on the age group. It varies year by year. Check the standings and the state cup results.

^ spot on, there is no clear best despite what you might hear on the forums as it can be highly variable year to year per age group.

If you are trying to consider a club for your daughter I would encourage you to go talk to the coaches at clubs you are considering and attend practices. Make your own informed decision based on that information, in terms of getting authentic opinions this forum typically ain't it.

Thanks. What do we look for? What do we ask about?

For next year high school age:
05 - UPDX, Westside, Pacific FC (weaker age group across the board in the state, always has been)
06 - UPDX, Westside/NW Elite (looks like they had split results and both finished at the top), WA Timbers
07 - UPDX, Salmon Creek, Eastside, OPFC
08 - PCU, UPDX, Westside, Bend, Salmon Creek
09 - UPDX, Westside, Eastside, OPFC, NW Elite

U14 and under is a carousel.
            1) Look at the coach
            2) Look at team culture (this includes parent sidelines)
            3) Club pathways for where your daughter wants to finish her career. Currently, despite results, only 3 OYSA clubs have a history of college support on the girls - UPDX, Westside, and NW Elite.
            4) These age groups will change a ton in the next couple years.

Thanks. College and college support is important to us. How many of the college players come back to play for the club in the summer leagues?

Do you mean the WPSL? IF so, it's not unusual for a youth club to play some of its players on a WPSL team. These teams include college players from around the country, some NWSL players, and pro players from international clubs.

Wow - this is actually good advice. You don't see that often on this site. On the summer league question - this is the first year that there are 4(?) - (UPDX, Eastside, NWE and one other maybe?) WPSL teams. All seem to have current and former players from their club joining the roster based on social media posts.

PDX FC and UPDX are first year women's team. Both are built off of players from other clubs as they're new and just starting. Both should be fun teams to watch.

NW Elite is bringing their women's team back in a much lower league than the others, but still kudos to having a team. They will have several alumni.

Westside has had their team for well over a decade and usually has large player pools with 2 teams. They have many alumni each year.

I can't find PDX FC and UPDX on the WPSL NW Conference schedule. Only Westside Metros is shown. Are the two clubs in a different conference or division or is WPSL going to revise the schedule? All opportunities to play are good for the women's side. Good luck to all.

Looks like UPDX and PDX FC are in the USL W league.

None! The girl's programs in OR are poor because of ECNL, ECRL, and GA. We think we are elite and we are not. Putting girls in an environment that does not allow success kills the spirit of the game. Parents are too quick to put their children in top leagues without having an awareness of where their Child's level is at.
