I do not hear much talk about GA here. It is all ECNL and ECNL RL talk as I skimmed this chat. I assume that most top players are all doing ECNL here in Oregon, but isn't there still value to GA over ECNL RL? I know am likely showing that I don't know much by asking this, but hoping for some informed answers sprinkled among the snarky but still amusing ones. Even if ECNL is the top, seems like isn't there still room for girls to get looks in later years by going the GA route even if it is at worst case it is second tier in Oregon. And yes asking because I am not sure if my kid would make ECNL but she is only beginning this soccer journey and not sure we feel like having her on someone's B team either. I know there are other options too, but trying trying to make sense of these two options.

GA has OL Reign academy, mainly because the other Seattle ECNL teams conspired to keep them out when GDA folded.

Bridge City GA is more money and travel for the same (or lower) level competition than OYSA Premier

If that’s true that’s another option. I think there’s also a lot of travel since there are fewer GA teams in the Portland and Seattle area. I think reality is if your daughter is looking for a second tier team either GA or United PDX RL will be good. They both get decent exposure at showcases and tournaments. United PDX has great success at getting kids recruited to D3 schools.

This should enlighten you on the Bridge City trainwreck..
U13 - 0-12, dead last, 1 goal scored in 12 games v. 66 GA for a -65 GD
U-14 - 2-11-2, dead last, 8GF v. 41GA for a -33 GD
U-15 - 0-9, dead last, 2GF v. 53GA for a -51 GD
U-16 - 2-6-1, 6th of 8 teams, 5GF v. 15GA for a -10 GD
U-17 - 8-2, 2nd place, 26GF v. 10GA for +16 GD
U-19 - 3-6-1, 6th of 8 teams, 13GF v. 23GA for a -10 GD
Outside of the U-17 team, pretty much dead last in a conf. of stalwarts such as WA Timbers, Eugene Metro, Capital (Salem), and some random Eastern WA clubs. The scary part is in the younger age groups, completely getting blasted, not good when trying to build a club going forward.

Also, United PDX is even close to Washington Timbers GA. Not on any age group and not even close.

When a club splits in half, both resulting halves tend to suck.
Old CU was a good club. NWE girls are a joke. Bridge City is a joke. Throw in WSM, which has been rebuilding its girls program after letting it whither on the vine, and there's too many "elite" girls clubs in the Beaverton area.

Playing ECNL or GA will get you in front of coaches. Both have teams whom go to showcases and travel quite a bit, and most teams that are ECNL or GA have a college recruiting advisor. After that, it has more to do with the quality of the player rather than what league they’re playing in. You’ll hear a bunch of BS about why one is superior over the other, but the reality is being on a low performing ECNL team won’t give you any advantage. Truth is good coaches will find good players…
