You actually do not believe this right. I saw you said the same thing earlier. This is not how ECNL works.
I would imagine that this rec regional league may provide a pathway to the real league though.
That seems to be the plan; ECNL is trying to take over premier soccer around the country, and having grabbed most of the top clubs, has been going after the lesser markets, such as Oregon. By the standards of five years ago, none of the Oregon clubs would qualify, especially uPDX which barely existed. (Or was still BSC). First year is ECRL, then if a market is "good enough", they move up to ECNL. Expect that to happen with OR/ID, as most of Oregon's large blue-chip clubs are included. (Bend, Eastside, PCU, and FC are the main omissions, and I'm sure they'll be let in as well should they ask).
And once full ECNL is here, why would uPDX be allowed to remain in the Washington league? That makes no sense. It's not a superior club; this is not Timbers Academy playing in the Washington DA. (And even then, the Washington clubs were not happy about that). High school season doesn't match, and it's more travel.
If anything, I expect ECRL to come to Washington so second-tier clubs like WashT, Spokane, Yakima, Three Rivers, Issaquah, and maybe even Snohomish can bolt RCL/PSPL and too claim to be Elite.
Back to Thunderdome! Well, Thunderdome without the F-Bombs; at least ECNL requires its members be an actual club...
I believe ECNL could work if there are the right coaches but it will be hard since there are no practices time for the first 8 games or so in the season. The showcases I think the teams will fare better with games and practices under their belt. Besides the improvements of each week in league, UPDX 04b did well in Florida. I must admit there were a lot of college scouts at some of the games but mostly East coast schools. If they do Arizona and California showcases I am sure there will be more West coast college scouts but completion would be a lot tougher. I think better coaching would definitely help the boys out. Good luck parents finding the right fit for your sons and daughters.
I would also add that I didn’t think DA was a smart idea maybe because my son was a lot younger but all the Oregon DA teams got their butts whipped with 3 teams for each of the 7 clubs from Oregon. That was a lot of money wasted. Maybe it’s the same wasting money now but …..
...and why are there no Seattle teams? This is second-rate BS. These OR clubs have nothing to offer and have to stoop to low level leagues that parents think are elite. This is laughable!

Yeah, I don't really understand this. It seems like a lot of extra travel and expense to play the same level of competition further away. There are a lot of problems, far to many to address here, but this seems like a selling point for clubs more than anything to have the ECNL title.
In my opinion, you would be better off as a parent having your kid play locally, especially in the early/mid development years prior to high school and then taking the time and money you would spend on traveling to Idaho towards more practice/development and other local resources especially given that the competition isn't going to be significantly different.
