Our club has told some parents that since we are joining ECRL we will get to play in the ECNL showcases in SD and PHX and the ECNL playoffs so that is pretty good access to the ECNL events

We will not play their 3rd teams. We will be playing their ECNL teams. That would be the primary reason we would be joining ECRL in the first place. Otherwise we would just be playing each other as we already do in OYSA/state cup/USYS NWC and that wouldn’t require a move to ECRL now would it? The whole point of becoming part of ECRL is the opportunity to play the WA teams, play in the destination showcases, and have a shot at ECNL playoffs, which we hear all will happen.

United PDX gets to stay in ECNL and play the Seattle top teams, since they were already accepted into the league.
The other Oregon clubs will be in the Oregon/Idaho ECRL league. They won't play the Seattle top teams, and they are not in ECNL.
The Seattle clubs do not want WA Timbers, United PDX, Spokane in the ECNL league, as they don't think the level of competition from those clubs is high enough to justify the travel outside Seattle metro. So, they definitely won't send their first teams to play other Portland teams, who are the same level of competition as United and WA Timbers (or worse in most cases), and they will push back on any expansion of ECNL NW to include additional Portland teams.

Rather than driving to Medford, you'll be driving to Boise.
Glad my 05 will be aging out of this fustercluck.
