I just heard OYSA sanctioned Apex who took over 200 players from BendFC. OYSA set the precedent! Go for it! Start taking players from other Clubs! The OYSA ED, Roberta even called them "good citizens" for doing it! Let the games begin! This is exciting, and right before tryouts! According to Apex the Board voted unanimously, so it must be ok!

Well, he merged BSC and NEU. But those players mostly were replaced or sent to the B team.

And while TB is shady AF, if families in Bend want a new club, they should get one. Or do you think that BTFC should be granted exclusive rights to some territory? RCL in Washington does that shiz, and it stinks.

Players have always been allowed to move clubs, its not they the clubs own their rights or anything. The only thing is how you go about it. While Apex wasn't part of OYSA they had no recruiting rules they had to follow (which is why so many people are frustrated with SCA as well, they openly recruit right in front of you) but now that they are in OYSA they will have to follow the same rules that are in OYSA rules, which honestly is not that hard to do. you can still bring players over and recruit for tryouts, just limits how you contact players and during the year.

But it works and it's the right thing to do - competition in youth soccer has just allowed for easy entry of shysters into the market. At least the RCL clubs in WA have standards - and while some are much better than others (see those in high density areas), during the course of the RCL the play in WA has distanced from OR.

Yes, those clubs - which were clearly the best clubs in their area got the territory first, and if you look at today those clubs are still the best in their area. Promotion/Relegation doesn't work in youth soccer due to free player movement - work in the pros because rosters are relatively stable. We don't need upstarts - very few provide anything better - which is why none have been able to overtake the RCL clubs in their areas.

Yes, the RCL isn't much better than OYSA, but that's because Washington has the ability to have a league for ECNL with a large number of quality clubs - just so happens this came out of RCL. Again, this is good as it will elevate appropriate competition, and make sure it's more frequent, thus providing less travel and better development.

OYSA/OR's major problem, as it is with most states is that there are too many clubs. This creates a waste of resources and is inefficient at development. There's no quality control as anyone can start their own club and parents (mostly) don't know better. For competition to truly work and improve a product - the buyer must have knowledge and too many don't.

I agree, to many clubs and anyone can start one. While I think it is funny Apex is kicking Bends butt, this is what the forth Bend club in the last 10 years?

You can't indefinitely deny a club membership into an organization if they meet the organization's criteria for membership as stated in the bylaws. Not super complicated, it was going to happen eventually
