It's funny how rumors fly. The Timbers Academy is very demanding and no one goes there part time. There are several 09s who are full time members, playing MLS Next games, and that is why there listed as Portland Timbers.
I'm sure there may be some full time TA 08 players that are birth year 09, but they weren't the ones called up to the national team camp from wsm 08 oysa squad this winter.
Considering all the travel the TA does it does take quite a commitment but in the end it's just another youth local club team in the pdx market.
Funny how things Really are when you look at them objectively.
I'm glad these kids gonna play Somewhere Someplace and don't sit rotting on a bench.. it's great to see the timbers have evolved and realized kids getting to play is the most important thing
13 and 14 yr old yanks in Oregon agree...

These kids are doing the best they can in this environment. Good on them for getting invited. Who care if they don't go any further. They. have obviously accomplished more in life than you have.

Great for the kiddos that were selected. Are all of them the top 09s prospects in OR? If you know this age group you can argue they aren't but who cares!!. They are all good players! Other top 09 players didn't choose the Timbers route..they have others paths fwd with other pro teams. Hence most likely they were not selected because this wasn't done by independent US soccer scouting. And if SCA has good contacts for getting players in good for them. Life opportunities is about having the right contacts. I hope the kiddos do great!!
