You need a DOC to get into OPL and certain premier tournaments. Pacific DOC and FCSC DOC and the Pacific board members want the merger to go through so they can build up the pacific to have premier side. Why do they want to go premier? Ask them? He'll tell you why he wants merger. They will keep pushing till it happens. Said thing is cost will go up for kids to play soccer beyond recreational.

If creating another large "select" based club is the goal of Pacific I think it's a great idea. If Pacific's goal is to compete on the Premier level with PDX teams by combining then they are set to fail. In all honesty the GU12's at FCSC (which is the only team worth anything there) should combine with VTimbers GU12's so that a very competitive team is formed. I don't know what the relationship is like between the two coaches or DOC's are but that needs to be done. If FCSC doesn't see an opportunity like that then they are in it for themselves and not the kids.

From the chatter, it appears they are going to try to force the Premier teams at every age group and that will be their downfall. They should make all the teams select except for the few teams that can and want to pay and play Premier.

At this point it is again a joke and the reason I made the original post and asked that question. If they truly were involved and providing direction, there would be a clear style of play already established, clear targets to meet, etc., not just a directive that you have to wear Adidas.
Call it window dressing or lipstick on a pig (I prefer the later, although the lipstick in the form of terrible uniforms is depressing), there has not been one single improvement.

So if VT sucks, Pacific sucks, and FCSC sucks, then which club should parents be taking kid to be evaluated to see if makes premier player? At what age is it decided a kid is a select player or premier player material at age U10? Honestly, I would like the feedback. I don't want to fork money over for BS.

Most clubs are identifying players at 6,7 and 8 years old.
Kids go through major physical and mental changes from 9-14 years.
Ages 9-14 are critcial in the development of a soccer player. This is where most of the technical side of the game is taught. Too many coaches over-teach the tactical side of the game. Stay away from coaches that keep kids in the same positions with zero movement. It is important for your child to have the opportunity to develop by playing multiple positions. By U12 you might see your child in positions for longer periods. Some players develop a knack for a certain position and if they are on a "A" team you will see your child play certain positions to help the team out.
another thing....you can't go off of everything you hear on this site.
an honest evaluation of all three clubs.
FCSC - great club for average to below average players that want to play multiple sports growing up. Downside is cost. You will pay $1000 to do this.
VTimbers - offers the same thing as FCSC/Pacific as far as for the average/below average player. You can play select there also. The difference here is that VT has Elite teams that compete at multiple levels on a REgional and National level. VT is not there to jsut compete in Clark County. They are a regionally recognized club. VT is top 5 in Washington.
Pacific - Carbon copy of FCSC with more teams minus the $1000 fee.

You get what you pay for
If you are paying $1,000 plus kits you better get at least one professional coach per team with a license and not parent volunteers. You should get a club with a D or better licensed DOC. You should be getting at least three practices a week plus Fall and Spring league. You should be getting 2 local tournaments.
If you are not getting that level of service then you are paying too much plain and simple. If you are paying more I only hope that the quality and quantity of coaching is correspondingly better. There is very little reason for the Vancouver area to add another Premier level layer of teams when the VTimbers barely field full teams at all the Premier levels.
Parents need to realize that being the star on a weak premier team actually short changes your player as they do not get pushed in practice and get killed by better teams when they travel. If you want your player to develop and reach their potential then they need to go to a club that has the ability to place them at their level and then provide them appropriate coaching and give them a goal to move up to the next team.
Now that puts the onus on the VTimbers to step up their game and improve their coaching development and demonstrate the benefits the "alliance". But starting another premier program is NOT going to produce the desired results.
