When the agreement or merger or what every you want to call it occurs the result with be another big club which offers Premier opportunities. YES, Pacific does plan to have premier side.. FCSC will be the premier side with only difference in name and instead of Pacific farming the kids to Timbers at age 14 they will stay in club and be coached by FCSC with Tina as DOC. I guess the Pacific coaches got tired ot loosing the good kids to Timbers at 14 now, there is another option. FCSC had good coaches but, not enough kids. Pacific has kids but, not enough coaching experinece to coach at premier levels. If Timbers are good club should still attract the kids but, if there all smoke and mirrors the kids will stay at Pacific.
Which coaches at FCSC are you talking about. Tina is the only coach with any real Premier teams. There are multiple coaches at Pacific that came from FCSC. I just don't see any stand out coaches that would make a team instantly better.
I really do not see what benefit Pacific gets from this. They are going to get most of these kids once FCSC folds anyway.

The other thing that FCSC doesn't bring to the party is any sort of rec base. They have, by far, the smallest number of rec players of any club in SW Washington. So where are all these future select/premier players going to come from? Not FCSC...

I honestly, dont want this merger. I was at Pacific, it sucked, came to FCSC and so much better off. You can keep Pacific

Pretty sure you are the only one in the world who has made that particular move.

Wrong again, there are several of us old Pacific parents who love FCSC. Pretty sure you never go outside your Pacific parent coaching politics bubble to find out. Please stay at Pacific. Just like you Pacific parents us FCSC parents are also praying for no merger as we see nothing in it good for our kids either but to go to back to a club full of poor coaches and to much politics. A least we can agree that we both don't want FCSC to merge with Pacific. To bad the coaches and DOC at FCSC did not ask the kids and parents how they felt. Many plan on heading toward VT programs if merger goes through.

This thread could set a record for the longest string of mindless prattle!

Unless you are talking the Girls U12-U14, not too many kids from FCSC would make a Timbers team. Sorry, almost all of those teams are low select at best.

Pacific has the least politics out there. Drama it has but not near as much political crap as the other clubs. IME, at least.

Just wait until it becomes a "club". There will need to be a board, and board meetings, and chairs of this and that. The politics will come.

IMO, expectations are too high if anybody honestly thinks they can make Pacific into a true Premier club, with competitive teams in the Premier divisions. I'm not talking about Select and Rec+ dressed up as Premier (ie. OPL divisions 1-4) but real Premier.

Agreed. I hope they try to make a stronger select club and still keep their current values. maybe have one or two teams pay and play in Premier (if they are strong enough). But afraid they will try to push premier teams at each age and just create failing premier teams and lots of drama. i.e FCSC all over again.

They would only be combining to in an effort to accomplish that. With Premier soccer comes DOC's, with DOC's comes the need for $$$. To meet cost prices have to increase.

However there will be trouble if the increase in price does not equate to increase in coaching quality or talent.

Get the facts straight before you compare....

So now if I have to pay the higher cost, then I might want to go the Timbers as they are a much larger club and can offer more trainings, cross trainings, etc.

This is the problem FCSC had, charged equal or even more but offered less.

So they better learn how to charge a lot less.
People need to get their facts straight.

I have a son at Timbers and a son at FC. I paid $1000 at FC which includes 2 tourneys, league, and state cup. I paid $920 (give or take) at Timbers with no tournaments included. Give or take $100 the cost is the same. Timbers have bad, bad field situation. Timber son has moved fields 10+ times throughout the season and have no fields to practice on since first of November. FC has Felida, which is a beautiful park that is safe and well maintained. With Timbers we have practiced at some pretty shadey fields where I do not feel safe leving my son alone. FC now has agreement for Kingways Turf field for a fantastic lighted field to train on all winter! Both clubs have their positives and negatives. I see no "more tranining or cross training" from Timbers. Our families are happy with both coaches and both teams. There is no significant difference in the "package. when all is said and done.

I think my facts were pretty straight. $1000, plus uniforms $150-200, plus I doubt the team just did two tournaments. Most likely 3-4 which would be another 35--80 dollars.

Not even throwing in Spring league if your team decides to do that. So about $1200--1300 fixed costs.

Both clubs, Timbers and FC pay this much. I was comparing the FC costs to what a top team at pacific would pay.

And I believe VanWest soccer club and Salmon Creek Baseball get first rights to Luke Jensen. SC only gets fields if these other two clubs do not reserve them all. I do not believe there is any contract in place with FCSC. I would guess all your practice times are the later ones 7:30--9:30 as the early ones got booked by VanWest.

Obviously you are a Pacific parent who needs to stay in your little sheltered world. What you said was FC costs more than VT and you get more at VT, which is not the case. An additional tourney and spring league is more like an additional $80, not $300-$400. Say $1400/16 kids=$87.50 and a quick fundraiser or two can easily cover that. I hate to be nit-picky but I am tired of the over-exaggerated cost comparisons between Pacific and VT or FC.

Again, you are misinformed. Kings Way has a brand new turf field with lights behind the school (next door to LJensen) and FCSC has a longterm agreement to train on that field. Check it out! It's beautiful and they are putting in another turf field in the next phase. Yes, this is the benefit of belonging to a soccer club.

If you don't know the facts, don't comment. If you love Pacific, great. Stay there but quit trying to compare apples to oranges and make yourself feel better by ripping on FC and/or VT especially if you don't have a clue.
