    Don't be a dumbazz.

Thorns are, pre scandal at least, the most popular and well-attended women's pro team in the US by a longshot. The Timbers, pre-scandal(s) and pre-Covid (the brouhaha about the Iron Front flag before 2020 broke the world, did some damage to the relationship between the Army and front office, and relationships among the Army as well) were one of the top tickets in MLS.

Blazers are in a similar situation, even moreso as the only NBA franchise in the Northwest. League probably isn't about to let them leave.

RSL had their owner forced out just last year, and they just knocked the Timbers out of the playoffs. Salt Lake City is, population-wise, an even bigger backwater than Portland--it's about half the size of PDX. (That surprised me when I looked it up, but it's true!)

Enough with the inferiority complex; we deserve better.

      Couldn’t disagree more!

once Paulson is gone and new ownership is announced, there will be massive inflow of sponsorships. They will show a huge amount of support for the players (especially Thorns). This will not only be great publicity and business, but it will rejuvenate a program that has been dragged down by a disliked owner and obvious scumbag.

they will come back bigger and better than ever with a huge bump in fans and sponsors.

I bet anything deals are being made right now to buy these teams.

I lived through the Seattle Supersonics sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 20+ years later still NO NBA team in Seattle despite every kind of high powered lobbying possible. Way to go Portland, run out one of the best parts of Portland. Ya know… you CAN demand changes without being idiots.

Anyone recognize that all of this started with an adult player who was hoeing it up with her coach for years to then beg to be on the next team he was coaching. Hoeing it up continued with another player. For years.

but all of a sudden those two players were fearful of their safety and security from day one once they realize no one wants them on a team.

The organization needs a total reset. Rebuild their FO, rebuild Timbers academy.

Portland won’t lose its teams, but the soccer could suck for a few years. A complete overhaul means just that, a complete tear down and rebuild. I hope it doesn’t happen that we become irrelevant in the standings but I find it possible.

Oh please. It's a mediocre league, and the current FO and staff are sub-mediocre.

Reset the whole org and build an academy that isn't crap. It's not that big

Maybe study a little more about the Sonics move. Totally different and completely unrelated to fans, market, revenue, etc..
Saying the Thorns and Timbers would move is like saying the Cowboys, or Yankees would move. Timbers and Thorns draw more crowds than most of the MLS and NWLS teams combined. It’s all about Providence Park and the vibe. Most cities don’t have soccer facilities like we do. Merritt Paulson can go cry to Daddy, and suck a few farts out our as-ses. Once he’s gone the teams will be in great shape with massive amounts of local and national sponsors. Time to go goofus.

I hope you are right. Currently 4 other MLS teams have the same or higher attendance (Atlanta La Galaxy Toronto Cincinnati) and several teams that are close in attendance to Portland vs say Atlanta who is way out on top over 23k more fans per game on average. And owners with money can move the team wherever their hearts desire if MLS approves. No guarantees that the fans demands to sell won’t backfire on everyone including the players.

Or the same people could continue owning the team and keep a culture of abuse and cover up. That would make us all proud supporters! Only one way to go, get rid of the trash and begin a new era. It’s up to the fans to show up and support the new ownership and players

If we have teams here. Ownership going is NOT the only method of penalty to illicit change. Wake up.

I think there is another scenario that will play out. Merritt Paulson dogs in and stays, because he has nothing else to do. And by doing this he will lose fan support of the clubs and top players will avoid it like the plague he is. The Timbers/Thorns slowly bleed out until they are virtually worthless and he is forced to cut losses by the investors.

It would be way better for all of he would cut and run. He could get top dollar right now, in 2 years, half of what it is today. With lack of sponsors they will burn so much cash, cash that they do not have and quickly be in bankruptcy. No one will float them large enough credit lines to maintain the costs.

                                it’s over.
