There are three tiers in the Metro League:
1) Jesuit and Westview, with Jesuit clearly on top. WV is much improved from last year, and given the talent on that roster, I'm surprised they did so poorly last year. Adding JB (who was with TA last season) has really helped.
2) Mountainside, Aloha, and Beaverton in the next tier. All three have some quality club players, but none can field a full XI with them. Mountain side got subject to the mercy rule against Lakeridge one week (getting crushed 8-0, which ended the match early) and then gave up only a single goal to Sherwood and hung a clean sheet on LaSalle the next week. Go figure. At least two of these should make the field of 32, possibly all three. I'd be surprised if any of them advanced any further than that.
3) Sunset and Southridge at the bottom. Sunset has some quality players, but it hasn't clicked. Southridge got ripped apart by the redistricting when Mountainside opened, and just doesn't have the talent on the roster to compete.

Your occasional reminder that HS ball is rec ball; a there's a half dozen club teams in Oregon who could crush any varsity team out there.
