I don’t get why team here call themselves football clubs and not futbol clubs.

Because its called football in the country that created the modern day game

Too confusing. We have American football and European football in the US. The latter should be referred to as futbol.

"Fútbol" is Spanish. "Futbol" is an acceptable substitute for the Spanish term if you can't figure out how to type ú on your device. In Portuguese it's called "futebol".


"Football" and "soccer" are both acceptable terms in English, with the former likely to generate confusion with other sports also called "football".

It's "Calcio" in Italian, "Fußball" in German (Fussball if you can't type ß), etc.
