Are there any? Always wondered how they apply to players to want to play for an OYSA club and the Timbers Academy, if ever selected for the latter. How about if their club plays in ECNL and they also want to play for an OYSA club?

The TA does not allow players to play for any other team. But you know this. They would be kicked off the team. Now TA training players are not really TA and they are encouraged to play in ECNL/ OYSA clubs.
ECNL has not kicked off yet has it?

Just a heads up, there is no such thing as an ECNL club. Any bona fide youth club in the states can enter a league, a showcase or a tourney of their choice, as long as it is sanctioned.
Yes, indeed the US Club soccer association hosts a league called the ECNL. It's no big deal just yet another league chasing parents' dollars and spinning exposure as the ticket to soccer nirvana (LOL) Much travel is required for any Oregon boys or girls club team that signs up for this option.
Believe it or not, the US Club soccer group had a short-lived but strong presence over a decade ago in Oregon--Due to this GW of Peregrine saw an opportunity to force then (US Club Soccer) clubs back to the USYS/OYSA leagues and leveraged many clubs back to the USYS/OYSA with the allure of being a branded 'Timbers' club, ROTFL, it worked. This 'noble gesture (bringing everybody back to the USYS/OYSA) wasn't that noble, instead, it was the pathway for the Timbers/Thorns to take control of all revenues generated by these USYS/OYSA non-profit products: Fall, Winter & Spring, Leagues, ODP/RTC, State, President & Founders Cup.
The Gambino crime family has got nothing on this dude.
Nothing revisionist about this narrative, it was a visionary & profitable move from a business shark who found gold from a lean-to OYSA shack.

2).either club won't like it and conflicts arr inevitable
3) some leagues have rules against it
4) if the two clubs are under the same umbrella a player pass won't be issued for two teams

1:) they are so watered down they don’t have enough talent on their roster
2:) just a gimmick to get more money
3:) just a gimmick to get more money
4:) just a gimmick to get more money
see the trend here?
it’s all a joke. The acronym world of youth elite soccer is at this point the most laughable of all youth sports. Pay $12k per year for ECNL player…for say 5 years. $60k….for at best a 4th to 5th place regional team….no attention from any D1 coaches…..why would you ever do this?
find a private coach, put your kids with a great club coach with positive players….and watch what happens. They will be better players, better humans, and actually enjoy the game.
good luck

05's, by the way, had very few players in the TA after U16 that were from Oregon. If you knew you would know.

Only discovery for TA is 09/10 now. Several 09's made the TA as full time players... not fully official yet but is pending. The TA list for 08/09's being released soon.

If it's only about a scholarship put that money in a 529 and invest a few grand in SAT prep and tutoring. Have them play locally for much less. Academic grants can often be far more than athletic and you keep it all 4 years (as long as you maintain your GPA).

Your player should be in a top league because they're passionate about the game and playing and want to improve. If they can play a few years at a school they love, fantastic. If soccer helps them get into a better school than they would go without? 2x fantastic. If they get any money to play look at it like a lottery win.

My daughter played for UnitedPDX when she was asked to be a DP for Crossfire 4 years ago. Played on both for 1 spring. At that point she made the jump up to ECNL. It's been a great experience for her. Now off to college next year.

Changing clubs to Wa. XF is a dream for many metro seattle boys and girls. Since that club covers the cost for those selected.
Oregon clubs on the other hand charge full fare for travel and can"t move the needle for college placement.
Always been that way for Oregon girls.

Some clubs not selected for inclusion in the MLS Next wil force parents to pay high dollars at their faux clubs for the chance to particioate in these established sub par travel leagues; EAL, ECNL, 64 etc... Parents buy it and the con goes on.

If you're a top starter at an MLS pro club that's one thing. If you're at a mediocre pay to play club? Only do it if you can afford it and college is is saved for in full
