And why do you think it is that the refs are poor?
clueless fools that pace the sidelines screaming, not a clue that they’re driving anybody that wants to ref away while simultaneously robbing their kid of owning their own experience and growing. Amazing. This is full TEd Talk material with plenty of reading material out there to help you—start with Dan Blank’s ‘Happy Feet.’ Seriously.

I couldn’t believe my daughters coach 3 years ago told the entire team to hit the other players with their shoulders every time they touched the ball. It’s soccer not Rugby.

      This guy gets it right!
He has been a coach for many years at the top level of ECNL

Exactly. And volunteering to be a ref doesn’t change things when the refs ARE calling fouls in the boys/mens games at an average of 10 times. Maybe not as much as in Europe but there needs to be instruction of refs to ensure refs don’t swallow their whistles when girls/women are on the pitch. The leagues, particularly ECNL and GA, need to put pressure on the reffing organizations to teach and enforce the laws of the game.
