    united pdx coaching changes

Seems that UPDX is doing some major coaching changes for the 04/05/06 teams next year. Matt Broadhead has been brought in to try and tackle the numerous leagues and travel engagements they will have. The 06 has definitely fallen short of expectations compared to all the other age groups. You can see coaching assignements for next year on instagram

Anxious to see what happens at the other boys clubs...FC is also doing a big turnover, and Jimmy departure from WST creates turnover. Who will be smart and upgrade talent...and who will recycle some of the same old "need to retire" coaches?

Surprised Futy didn’t get a team of his own with them if they had that many openings

The 06's were spread too thin because of the pointless EAL. Still underperformed though...

Need more of the inexperienced younger coaches who couldn't coach their way out of a paper bag, have them take more teams on at the club, then show up at training & games when they are in the right mental state and of course demand higher pay. It's called being smart and upgrading. Welcome to soccer nirvana in Portland.

If they want to attract players they need to get the best coaching staff to play ECNL. For example for the 09s are Stanton and Lewis good coaches? Never heard of them. Stanton seems to be the Communications and Marketing Director? Did they play at a high level?

The 09s aren’t very good. Hard to see a couple no name coaches attracting talent from the better clubs, but parents are weird and I’m sure som will fail for the allure of getting beat by XFire and SU.

Middle of the table. They would need to recruit a bunch of top 09 players to compete in ECNL. Not seeing how this will happen with the selected coaches. It seems the club does not care.

Any other news of coaches jumping teams? I heard there may be a few this year.

This isn't a UPDX thing, its just about every club losing coaches, changing of the guard, except there isn't any new coaches.

Him and BM with the 07 and 08's should be interesting. There was some scuttle that he was leaving UPDX but I guess it did not work out?

I would think he would want to be out of BM’s shadow but now it’s twice as much. Hmm

‘06 UPDX underperformed? In what way? Got a NWC PRO bid, won premier (second team won their division too and their cup). Soooooo, how exactly? Who outperformed them?
