It means they are going to the NW Regional Tournament in Boise through the national league system and not through the state cup winners option. Although if any of those teams win state the the 2nd place teams go

We could have a situation, in the 05 and 08 boys brackets, where both State Cup finalists are already qualified for Regionals. How would they determine third place?

OYSA could set the bracket up so that FCSC and UPDX (08's) and UPDX and WT (05's) could only meet in the semi's.

How did Club Zero manage to fail to advance a single team out of a league filled with mostly minnows? Other than the two Oregon clubs, the only participating club in the CvC division that's worth a bucket of warm spit is Sparta out of UT. (WPFC is a good club, but their A teams are in ECNL).

Club-vs-club is, in retrospect, a bad idea every bit as much as E64. Few clubs are strong enough in all ages (even considering that clubs can choose to participate in just boys or just girls) to be able to send elite teams at each age; the main criteria seems to be willingness to commit to send all ages. Team-vs-team had a few clunker entries as well, as qualification is generally based on prior years' performance, but the OR teams that did participate in TvT are among the top teams at their age groups.

Pretty soon we'll reach travel soccer nirvana--with each top Oregon club being in a different travel league, and none of them ever playing a single match against anyone else in town. Woohoo.

                Not really true.
Locals play against each other in fall and winter leagues as well as the miscellaneous summer tournaments against each other. Typically playing 3-5 times a year agains a given team from Oregon depending on level of play. So travel ball hasn't changed the standard low of playing Eastside numerous times a year. The cub vs club and team vs team debate is comical to say the least. Neither is better in concept or play than the other. There are two options for clubs and they choose where they fall. Club vs club has more variability- for sure. I'm amazed that Westside was not confident enough to play at every age group when their parents act like they are the second coming.

UPDX dominated. This is the new normal and it is not going to change anytime soon.

Used to be, NWCL was something each team had to qualify for. All the different leagues have resulted in all of them being diluted.

Will hand it to uPDX. Even though they did well in State Cup last year, they found an even easier path to regionals then getting through OYSA.

Congrats, I suppose. (Still curious what happened to the 06 team... won State Cup last year and dominated; this year sitting mid-table. Did y'all not get all of the TA washouts this year?)

If the state cup winner is the same as the national league winner the team that finished 2nd in the national league goes to regionals as opposed to the team that finished 2nd in state cup. USYS used to have some wild card spots they would give out, those would go to 2nd place state cup teams, not sure that is the case now with some many national league spots.

Do you have a source for this? Or is it just in past experience? I think this currently applies in a few situations.

This correct. If the National League (NW Conf/NW Club v Club) champion also wins the State Cup, the 2nd place team gets the regional slot, not the State Cup runner-up. For example, in B2008 Club v. Club, if UPDX wins the OR State Cup, then Sparta (UT) would get the additional regional slot.

Is this written in the rules somewhere? A link?

3rd place would not matter- both teams would qualify either as nwcl representative or state cup. Man there are some dumb people on here…

Lol...State Cup Finalists? How about you wait until brackets have been announced, and maybe even then hold off until quarter finals before you declare United and Westside "Finalists" at the 05 age group. Westside is my bet to make it, United not so much. No offense and just an okay defense.
