Almost nothing. USYS is mad that GAL clubs aren’t joining them in stupid National League, PRO, or Elite 64 so they are taking their ball and going home. I’m sure a ton of GAL families would like to travel even more in Elite 64 to go play a bunch of 4th tier teams. GAL will either just get carded through State Associations or find someone like USASA or AYSO that will take their money to provide secondary insurance that is almost never used.

Clubs with MLSNext and ECNL have joined E64. Here's a couple thoughts:
1. GA doesn't have a registration method to US Soccer. They won't be part of USYS and I can't see US Club taking them as a competitor to ECNL. That's a major business issue.
2. Watch MLSNext closely. The MLS clubs just pulled out of USL to form their own reserve league. Watch them pull their academy teams out of MLSNext. Two reasons: they don't want to play non-MLS clubs in competitive/real matches and they can better control quality of the product. If the MLS Academies leave MLSNext, what then happens?
We badly need one structure.

Some ECNL clubs might be putting their C teams into Elite 64 so they can appease parents that want the illusion of elite soccer because they think travel=elite. USYS is pissed because without GA, Elite 64 is as good as dead. GA will find an alternate “sanctioning” body. The profit margin on secondary insurance that no one ever uses is massive. I guarantee USASA would take them. They’d be even better off if they self sanction. USSF absolutely would let them.

There seems to be a lot of BS in this thread (typical), with a lot of suggestions of activities for which there's no public evidence (including no evidence of any "press releases", which would normally be found by a web search).
What we do know:
* GA is sanctioned via USYS, like OYSA and numerous other state leagues. No evidence that this has changed; and the idea that USYS (which has lost quite a bit of market share to US Club already) would eject a platform is ludicrous.
* Elite 64 seems a stupid idea, just like EAL and numerous other travel leagues. The advantage of USYS's existing national platforms is that you generally have to qualify to participate, rather than clubs being granted permanent membership.

It was not a press release, it was an email from the USYS to GAL families about the GAL not entering teams in the E64 and moving forward the GAL "may not" be sanctioned by USYS. The GAL followed with their own email stating the player experience would not change regardless of what happens with the USYS.

MLS, ECNL and GAL are NOT participating. If you see a club listed it's their B, C or D teams. They are not putting their A teams into this soon-to-be-failed super league
