Why does OYSA allow directors of clubs, which are supposed to be non-profit, run private academies with the same Club players? That's totally unethical. SCA then should be allowed to play at OYSA. It is not different from what these crooks are doing.

He is in charge of the younger age groups at OPFC. Of course I would probably want my kids training with PDX FA if I wanted to increase the chances of my kid playing at OPFC. The same guy runs both! And after all, we are all only human.

Interesting as my son plays for OPFC and we have never had pressure for him to do the training. I have never been impressed with Alex as a coach so I wouldn't pay extra for him to coach my son for an additional hour per week at any cost. Likewise, I do not blame anyone that is trying to make an honest buck. But he is not a dishonest man who tries to take advantage of people or situations so I hope this thread doesn't go that direction.

This is not dishonest. This is simply textbook conflict of interest. I wouldn’t necessarily call it making an honest buck. He’s not dumb, he knows how to exploit the leverage he has and he knows what he’s doing.

That does not seem appropriate. If you are offering a private academy is because you are lacking training at the Club.

And allowing Alex to run a for-profit training business on the side while directing a component of a nonprofit soccer club is a major conflict of interest.
Both things can be true.

No mention of the ADF, a pro-forma non-profit that essentially contracts out ALL THE OPERATIONS OF THEIR CLUB to a (for-profit) LLC run by the club director...
