If it's all as it seems I find this very interesting. Will have to see how it turns out though. Nothing good happens overnight, so I'm not expecting fireworks.

This sounds like more THUSC is getting ENCL hogwash to me....

This seems highly unlikely to me. There is not enough talent in Portland for this.
First, it's a current club re-branding and revamping their strategy. And definitely not in the THPRD area.

Second, more clubs mean more opportunity for more players, and more choices for everyone. Don't see how this is a bad thing.

What is the optimal club count for a metro area the size of Portland and why? Please provide supporting evidence.

            Split ?

Id say it would be a case of abandonment.

It would be nice to have some quality coaching. I would pay extra for that. It's a no brainer. The talent wouldn't be split, they'd all go to the Barcelona club. I am not sure if there is another club that practices on turf though. Does PC United? I don't think it would be Portland FC.

                  My guess would be CFC.

My source confirmed the official approval has happened. An official announcement should come sometime in the next week or so.

Apparently the teams will operate under their current name for the Fall but will officially change over for Winter/Spring.

As a CFC member I hope that it's CFC but I have my doubts. I also don't see many Portland area players commuting to Salem just because of a branding arrangement like this.

I agree. Salem may be too far. Maybe Bridlemile???

THUSC since they didn't get ECNL?

My guess is a small club. Can't see any of the "bigger" clubs committing to something like this.
