The GA (as well as ECNL) schedule appears to start in January for Oregon teams. That makes sense for high school kids. But what about the younger U13 and U14 teams? Do they play in the fall? I don't see any of them on the OYSA fall schedule.
That is correct that the actual league doesn't start till after the new year. The northwest clubs in the GA got together and are doing their own league during the fall. Basically every 2 weeks or so they are hosting games. ***C has already played Harbor FC and Bridge city. The plus side is there is no league fee as they are organizing it themselves, so its a low cost option to get games in this fall until their league starts.
Does anyone know if OYSA actually blocks those clubs from playing? It looks like all the (GU13 and GU14) Washington teams in the ECNL and at least one GA team (Spokane Sounders) are playing the WYS/RCL fall season up there. But none of the OR clubs in the "travel" leagues play OYSA fall. Sure, maybe it saves a little something on the league fees to only play friendlies. But I somehow doubt that was the deciding factor. It seems like a real missed opportunity to mix the GA, ECNL, and top OYSA clubs for the fall season before those girls are in high school.

The difference is that the Washington ECNL teams don’t mind losing to non-ECNL teams, and they do lose in RCL. The Oregon ECNL teams rely on the hype that they are somehow superior to OYSA teams in order to recruit players to pay enormous fees. There are current OYSA teams that would hammer the local ECNL clubs. Guaranteed.
and forget about local GA. Bridge City is terrible, Timbers are middle of the pack OYSA and Eugene is bottom 3rd OYSA. Oregon youth soccer is a mess.

They are not blocked from playing at all. Some choose to and some don't, but it really is a club decision.

Thank you. Do you know any that do choose to play Fall OYSA with their top / traveling teams?
I clicked around the brackets, and I didn't see any GA or ECNL clubs in OYSA Premier Silver (why isn't that Gold like the boys, btw) standings for GU13 (09s) and GU14 (08s). In the GU13 Div 1 Red bracket (presumably the 2nd tier?), there is are some: WA Timbers 09G Red 2, WT 09G Thorns Academy and ETFC 09G Bresica Comp. I'm guessing those are the the non-traveling / 2nd teams. Is that correct? In GU13 Div 1 White (3rd tier?) I see another one: FC Portland 09G Girls. And in GU13 Div 2 White (4th tier?), I see FC Portland 09G Navy and WA Timbers 09G Red 3.
It's all alphabet soup and it's dizzying to try to sort it out.

Alphabet soup is the perfect way to put it.
I would guess that Thorns 09 team is actually the Thorns 10's, who probably wanted to play up a year. The reason the GA teams aren't playing in Fall is because they are playing games against each other, so it doesn't make sense to play a compact 12 game season for OYSA, and also at the same time play games against the other GA teams. Not good for development or the health of the player to go over board like that. Its standard U14 above none of the ECNL teams play in OYSA. U13 was typically the last year they would even think of playing in OYSA state league. At U13 that FC portland team in White 1, I believe is there top team. The coach listed is the same head coach on their website for their ECNL team. They just are not a strong team, ECNL is going to be very very rough on that group.
If the reign are truly the best out of GA for the northwest they are worse than the worst ecnl team at the Gu13-14 level.
Maybe they will get better but really not that close right now.
I know when the Reign lost DA their top players moved to the ecnl teams.
