    Development Program/Teams for U-11's

Wondering if there are any good development programs besides personal trainers out there for U-11 girls? I know there will be ODP to try out for at U-12, but is there anything now? Can they try out a year early? What would all of you seasoned veterans recommend for a young girl who has some talent but not a ton of confidence and loves the game of soccer? (Besides telling me to chill out until she's in high school. :))

    Thank you.

I have a daughter the same age. Based on what I've read on these boards:

ODP is ran by a loser and is a waste of time.

Oregon soccer sucks, so why bother?

Even though tryouts are at u12, it's too soon to think about it.

I'm watching 15 year olds in the Olympics. Obviously our kids have chosen the wrong sport.

      Thanks for that. :)
So we should move to Washington, not try out for ODP, or just give up?

Just get your daughter into a good program. THUSC, ETimbers, and FC Portland are good clubs who focus on technical development.

Maybe more like our kids are normal and not phenoms.
Then again one would guess from reading this board there are a lot of parent that think they have one! LOL!

Yes, that's true. I definitely don't think my daughter us a phenom or even has a chance at a scholarship, but she definitely has some raw talent and great natural instinct on the field. She loves soccer, so not sure what to do to encourage her. She's bored with her regular twice a week practice.....

So do you think that's enough to keep up with what seems likethe rapid improvement of everyone else?

No. Your daughter needs to work outside of practice too. Juggling, and practice doing moves they are taught during practices like toe touches and such.

See if she can practice 1x a week with the older girls or with the boys. It will help her with her speed of play and make things fun again.

That's actually a great idea. Thanks.

What about ODP, do you think it's too early to try out a year up?

Not at all. A lot of kids do it. It can be good for them just to gain the experience so when it's time for her to tryout at her age she's been through it before.

You could always do some personal training.

If two, times per week isn't enough ask your doc if she can train with an older group. But if she is "bored" with her team trainings change teams. she shouldn't be bored at that age. There is too much to learn. If she is bored, I would question the coach

(I am not the original poster). Do you mean within the club? Isn't it too late to switch clubs at this point? Wouldn't you have to pay again? Just curious because my DS is in the same situation.
