    Understanding this audience

This talking-soccer.com/Oregon website is frequented by a majority of parents of middle school and teenage girls playing club soccer in the portland area and sw washington.

That's the demographic, to be honest it's the overwhelming demographic on this site.

Having this group define what and who is BEST coach is really quite skewed and sour as this group (as a whole) is left with team coaches who were passed over for boys jobs passed over for college jobs --basically coaching at these levels in Oregon in not a place the 'best' coach would ever want to be or would ever start.

In all these posts I've never read about any great coaching abilities of any of the names thrown out--just the fact that one of the names can out recruit all the others for middle school girls. Impressive.

Coaching Criteria to consider when nominating someone as the best in Oregon.

"How me and my daughter, feel about the coach".

    AWESOME!!

Agreeing with your own post doesn't count.

I didnt agree with my own post. Someone else must have also experienced Jason at his "best". I wish him luck in his career. Just would never have him coach a player of mine again. At least the player and the parents saw thru his BS early one. Hiring him at THUSC supports the theory that TA doesnt have the guts to hire a coach who is better than him and would actually make the club better and him look good. There is a reason THUSC is on a downhill slide after just a couple years of success on the girls side.

Now now, don't get bitter. I know who has wrote this and you are out of line. Just because he put you in your place and cut your daughter, does not mean he belittles. Intimidate? Come on. His players adore him.
Our Mercury team was the most hated in OR because of people like you. He was the only one who had the balls to stand up to you. He came in and would not put up with the attitude of the team. We are a way better team now because of him. To come on here and talk a load of lies is out of order. When he got rid of you, the whole club was delighted!!!!

Jason at his best is when he tells the crazy parents and the bad attitude players to take a hike!! That's the thing I love about him. Downhill slide? Have you seen the boys side since he took over? More than doubled in 8 months.

This is a silly post and wishful thinking.

                Keep dreaming.

This is exactly it. Jason isn't just about soccer. He is also about integrity and will not put up with disruptive players or parents.

So Jason = Balls & TA = no balls?

So since TA was one of the THUSC coaches that insisted on placing that player on Mercury and keeping that player on Mercury what does that say about him?

Get a grip people. TA is a good team coach and a first class recruiter who has the ability to organize talent, however there are 5 or 6 other girl coaches in the metro area that are better at individual player development!

I was bored with beach volleyball so I turned here for a good laugh and true to form this thread provided the laughs I was looking for. I have just one question for you Mercury parents. If Jason is such a good girls coach then why did 6 players (not counting the trouble child) leave, including your three best?

Inquiring minds want to know how you will spin that simple fact?

OBTW I heard through the coaching grape vine that TA kept MJ from giving her the boot on more than one occasion. Might want to follow up on that with TA and see what he says.

The answer is easy. Because Jason picked up a struggling team. There is only so much a new coach can do with an established team that is struggling and it is silly to think those players left because of Jason.

It is possible some left (like the psycho one) because Jason wouldn't put up with their bad attitudes. He sets high expectations for both play and behavior. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. As a parent, I would think you'd want the same.

Completely agree. The players that don't like Jason are the ones who are not willing to work hard and have a bad attitude. That would of been about 1/4 of the Mercury team. The parents that don't like Jason are the ones who think their kid is the next Mia Hamm and should be able to play every minute, do what ever they want, and not be held accountable for their actions.

Any player that is a hard worker and team player will get nothing but praise and pointers from Jason. He was that way at FC and from what I hear he's that way at THUSC.

Judging by the results of the LO Cup I'd say Mercury is better now without those players, including your daughter. Drama can be such a poison to any team and now that it's gone the girls can concentrate on enjoying the game again. Thank you Jason!
