Hmm, given that Valencia only managed a draw in two out of 3 group games, were extremely fortunate to earn a draw in the quarterfinals after having been outplayed the entire game, drew again in the semi's, and then were easily beaten in the finals, that means their only outright win in the entire tournament was against a B team. The only reason they even made it out of group (after finishing with the 7th highest point total in the group stage) was that the tournament went to an 8-team playoff this year.

Clearly, fortune was with Valencia in this tournament. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good.

Lets be honest here. They deserve credit based on the fact most would have thought they'd get hammered by anyone resembling quality. A tie against Spokane, Pac NW and Crossfire isn't too shabby and unless you were there give the girls credit.

            FYI
Valencia had a 2-0 until the last 7 minutes against Spokane. Also Spokane outplayed Crossfire but ended up losing 4-3. Spokane will be a handful for anybody this year.

Against Crossfire in the second half, a majority of it was played in the mid to on the Crossfires side. While Crossfire did own the first half, the best scoring opportunities in the second half were by Valencia. A tie is all they needed and a tie was what they got.

PacNW and WPFC A were both really good teams. They could both beat any team in this tourney on any given day.

Valencia is not as deep as any of the teams above but played smart, composed, and took advantage of their opportunities. Any team from SW Wash/OR would need some luck to go on the run they did. If nothing else the girls get alot of credit for having heart. Most of the girls played every minute of every game (380 minutes of physical soccer in 3 days) against the bigger, better teams in Seattle and in the end earned a chance to play a dominant California team that did what they were suppose to do.

Timber parent here. I want to congratulate the V-Girls on a great tournament. Way to represent SW WA! It sounds like they played their hearts out and we're proud of them!

I also want to apologize if any of the previous belittling comments are coming from my club/team. I would hope the Timbers parents are above this trash talk.
It's ridiculous that grown adults can act so childish. If any of this trash is coming from the Timbers please stop this nonsense. These are little girls we are talking about! You may have differences as adults but leave the team and girls out of your banter. Thanks!

I started this discussion by pointing out that Valencia was fortunate to get by WPFC, but I also whole-heartedly agree with your entire post. Well said.

I am a Timber parent. I wish to remain anonomys. Basically because I'm embarrased as hell to admit I even come on this site. Let alone post anything! But rest assured I am a Timber parent and tired of the bad blood between the two teams.
I voted for the merge between VUSA and WSA so we could unite the best talent in SW WA.
You idiots are doing everything to make sure it doesn't happen. Open your eyes and shut your mouths ... Please?

Someone needs to punch you many. Why when a group other than yours has any successes di you feel the need to downplay them. Valencia does not bunker in....ever. If they did things would have been much different I assure you. Whoever you are you clearly don't have the greatest soccer IQ. you think a zero zero tie automatically means they bunkered in. They play four in the back and try to counter the teams that are better. NEVER...NOT ONCE have the Valencia team played for a draw. They ended the Crossfire game with Crossfire playing not to lose..totally on their heals. And the WA premier game the Valencia girls ended both regulation and the second overtime dominating..creating chance after chance...ended ot with a free kick and three straight corners...don't kid yourself, both Crossfire and WA Pr. teams were very lucky to escape a loss in regulation. Get you f..ing facts straight loser. You are clearly retarded and were not in attendance at these games so go back to jealously stalking Valencias stats on the tournament website. Yes, of course, at the moment, Crossfire, WA Premier, San Juan, Van. Timbers and maybe a few others are better and play a better brand of soccer than Valencia...but dude...again...these girls handle thief **** and get it done. I would take the heart and commitment of Valencia over ANY team in the region. You go back to complaing in your recliner you douche...while Valencia keeps getting results...lucky or not..sorry Valencia doesn't have 90,000 girls to handpick a team like Cross. and WA premier.

Seriosly, could not agree more. get a life hater. There is NO possible way you were at any of these Valencia games this weekend or you would have kept your mouth shut in the first place. To see what these girls did first hand, and to see the way they did it with the shorthanded team they had this weekend was nothing short of miraculous. These are result you just don't see from a really bad team at this level. Crossfir and WA Premier both played at full strength with many subs and freash legs. It's not as if Valencia played out of their heads and those other teams had a terrible day. I feel very sorry for you. I think you need to step back and take a look at yourself and some of the comments you are making about young girls. I'm sorry your team was not in this tournament or Valencia would have found a way to hand you yours as well. Yes, ran out of gas in the final but don't try and take away or down play the previous results just because your team couldnt have done it. Whoever you are you anonymous wuss, I hope Valencia plays your team very, very soon....then you can talk abot how your team possessed the ball the whole game and the ref was terrible and the grass was too long and it was windy out and you were missing players etc..Dude, Valencia would have found a way to get the results with 10. That's what they do...Can't wait to see you soon. Put a name on your next post you GIRL.

Easy now. These are still 12 year old and with the top teams in the area its anybody's game on any day.

Let the haters hate. To be the best you have to go against the best and this weekend Valencia was up to the challenge. Congratulations from SW Washington.

Agree with last poster. Those who can't do....talk sh#$. Maybe if you leave the name Valencia out of your stupid mouth...they would go away into the sunset and people would stop talking about them....though very highly doubtful that this team is going anywhere but up. Seem to be great girls...well-coached. Parents can be a little over the top but really, who's aren't. You know you're doing something right if people can't stop commenting about you...even if those people are as the last poster stated...retarded.

East side parents, someone says one slightly (and I mean slightly) negative thing about their team and they go over the top. However, given the demographics of Gresham, I completely understand why. Every time I drive through that part of town I make sure to lock my doors. Between the criminals and the vast amount of pan handlers, I try to get through that part of town as quickly as possible. I guess when you live around that, you tend to fly off the handle on some message board.
