The best boys high school team ever!

Now that High School Soccer isn't as good as it used to be it's pretty easy to say that some of the "old school" teams would pounce some of the more recent teams.

Anyone old enough to go back and talk of some really good Boys HS teams?

we can take all of PDX area including our Vancouver contingent. I know there were some really good HS Boys teams from the Couv in the late '80's early '90's....Jesuit also had some great teams then. Maybe we can bring back some coaches and players names to spark interest.

Not to mention this has a great chance of being a light hearted thread without any bashing...I think the topic helps :)

Build it and they will come

Hm. I wish I lived around here to have seen those "old guys" play. (jk) ;)

It's funny, because while I know a lot of coaches who grew up playing soccer here tend to live in their glory years a git, a lot will admit that the game is a whole different animal now. They will tell you that the current players would eat them alive, so perhaps the opposite perspective than yours?
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the beautiful game was a lot more ...pure... and had a lot less messy politics, though, and that had to make it a lot more enjoyable all the way around.
But yeah, it would be interesting if you could do a "soccer field of dreams" where all the local high school all-stars from the 80s and 90s could come and play the current top players.
It would make for an interesting game for sure!

The level of play in both HS and club today is way better than the late 80's to early 90's. No comparison. The Oregon soccer culture has developed leaps and bounds since those days.

My (10yr younger) lil brother graduated in 2000. He played varsity 3 of 4 years at a Portland 6A school. He never played club/classic, but instead did rec up til HS. Their HS made it to the state tourney every year he played (cant remember now how far they ever went). He played Fwd and scored a fair amount of goals. He loves the game til this date. He played NAIA thru college and still plays both indoor and out on an adult league.

Generation of players that were good talent in the late 80's early 90's...in no particular order: Dan Schell, Shane Shorter, Peter Kavanaugh, Nino Benedetti, Ricky Camarena
